Slump? Carl Edwards? Those two words don't exactly go hand-in-hand, but in August, Edwards hasn't been the same.

After the race at O'Reilly Raceway Park on July 28, Edwards, who finished fourth in that race, held an 852-point advantage on second-place David Reutimann.

After last week's disastrous finish at Michigan, in which Edwards limped home 28th following a spin, the margin on second-place Kevin Harvick is an even 700 points.

The 152-point turnaround can be attributed to Edwards' poor summer along with Harvick's hot hand; he's won four of the last eight races and hasn't finished worse than third in that span.

Now it's on to Bristol, Harvick's playground. He's tied with Morgan Shepherd for the most victories (four) at the track. Yet the last time the series went to the half-mile in Thunder Valley, it was Edwards celebrating. And the new concrete surface shouldn't make much difference to him.
