There are plenty of numbers that can open eyes as the Busch Series turns southward to its final race of the 2007 season. But only one number really matters: 1.

Just one more race remains in what is known now as the Busch Series.

Dale Earnhardt won the Goody's 300 at Daytona on Feb. 13, 1982, kicking off a 26-year run of NASCAR's No. 2 series under the Anheuser-Busch name. It was called the Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series then. And on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, what is called the NASCAR Busch Series will come to the end of an era when the checkered flag is waved on the Ford 300 (4 p.m. ET, ESPN2). New title sponsor Nationwide takes over beginning in 2008.

So with just one race remaining in the series as we commonly know it today, By the Numbers closes the door on the 2007 season and the 26th chapter of Busch.
