Q: You've got this signature Michael Jackson-esque dance move in a lot of your movies. Where did you learn how to dance, and describe your victory celebration, if you were to win a NASCAR race?
Tucker: Well, I'm a black man so I automatically know how to dance. It's like basketball, its automatic. My dance, I don't know, I'd tease the drivers, you know, point at them [as he throws his arm in the air].
Q: How important is it to you to be able to come here and promote your movie in front of all these fans and national TV?
Tucker: It's very important. I mean NASCAR is one of the biggest sports in the world and movie studios know that. Got loyal fans and it's a great sport. You know it's great to be even invited, so it's an honor.
Q: Where have you been promoting the movie?
Tucker: I've been all over. We've been promoting all over the States and Toronto and California. Now I'm going to Atlanta, my hometown, after this. I'm from Georgia. We're finishing all the press in New York, Conan [O'Brien]. We've done a lot of promotions so this is a very important promotion for the movie.
Q: As NASCAR's fan base diversifies, do you have any interest in getting involved or encouraging more blacks to get involved?
Tucker: Oh yeah. I mean I think it's cool. When I was doing the tour I was like man this is so cool. I think a lot of people ... African-Americans don't know how cool it is and how interesting it is. So me being introduced to it is like, man this is fun. I wouldn't mind being a driver, you know, I'm too scared, but I think it's cool. It's definitely picked up ... more people would get the formality of how it works and how they do it.
Q: If more blacks do continue to compete in NASCAR, could you see a Tiger Woods of NASCAR?
Tucker: Oh yeah, definitely, because you know, hey when you're riding and stuff, you know when a police car pulls up behind you, you get scared and you drive fast. I think we'd be great drivers!
Q: Richard Pryor did the Wendell Scott story some years back. Do you have the bug enough to do a race-related movie?
Tucker: You must be a psychic because I'm getting the bug man. When I was walking through the trailer, it's a whole other world. I feel it, I feel something. I've seen Talladega Nights, where I could do my version. I think it would be a great story. Because that was a great movie Richard Pryor did [Greased Lightning]. I love that movie. Maybe, we'll see.
