CENTRAL CITY, Ky. -- Brewco Motorsports Inc. has named Shawn Parker the team's motorsports director. In this new role, Parker will act as the liaison between Brewco's No. 27 and No. 37 Fords, to increase the communication and information-sharing between the two teams. "Shawn is responsible for the performance of the teams," Brewco owner and founder Clarence Brewer Jr. said. "He will make sure our crew chiefs Newt Moore and Stewart Cooper have what they need to be successful -- everything from parts to personnel. This new position adds a layer of upper management to our race team that we know will help us go faster. "We're fortunate to have Shawn at Brewco. His racing career has spanned more than 20 years with very successful teams. His experience and dedication to the sport are truly assets to our organization." Parker held his first crew-chief position at the age of 14, leading a local race team in his hometown of Canandaigua, N.Y. He has an extensive NASCAR resume, which began when he was a member of the original No. 24 team during Jeff Gordon's Cup debut. Parker has previously served as car chief on Mark Martin's No. 6 Ford, and as crew chief for Dale Jarrett's No. 88 Ford. He joined Brewco in 2006 as competition director and also served as co-crew chief on the team's No. 27 Ford Fusion in the Busch Series. In 2007, Brewco's lineup will include veteran NASCAR drivers Ward Burton in the No. 27, as well as Greg Biffle and Jamie McMurray in the No. 37. |
