Juan Montoya will make his Cup Series debut at Richmond this weekend. The Crown Royal 400 will be the fourth Car of Tomorrow race of the season.
In the previous COT three events -- Bristol, Martinsville and Phoenix -- the rookie has an average finish of 27th.
Last week at Talladega, Montoya was running ninth but then slapped the wall on Lap 162. He eventually finished 31st, five laps down.
"Something broke in the steering, in the suspension, and it went straight into the wall," Montoya said. "I thought we ran pretty good. I thought we had a good car. I think we had at least a top-10 car but you know how Talladega is. It was exciting."
Montoya leads the rookie of the year standings by four points over David Ragan.
