Rain washing out practice didn't help Juan Montoya in his second Cup race at New Hampshire International Speedway.

Montoya wasn't happy with his car on Friday after the first practice and it showed during qualifying when he could only manage a 31st-starting position.

When rain washed out all practices on Saturday, the No. 42 team was unable to make adjustments to make the car better before going out and racing on Sunday.

Montoya did the best he could, finishing 23rd, but ultimately he left Loudon wishing things could have been different.

"Boring day," Montoya said. "It's hard. We didn't have a great car in practice and we didn't run Saturday. I was junk Friday and I was junk today. It was really hard. I made a lot of progress through the day but it's really hard to catch-up when you start so far back."

The finish kept Montoya 20th in the Nextel Cup standings and he holds a slim 13-point edge on David Ragan in the rookie standings.

Now the series shifts to Dover for the Dodge Dealers 400. The Monster Mile is another 1-mile track but instead of a flat surface like New Hampshire, this one has 24 degrees of banking in the turns.

Back in June, rain moved the race to Monday and Montoya had high hopes for a good run after qualifying 16th, but in the end he struggled, bringing his Dodge home in 31st, five laps down.
