The car Riggs will drive next season -- No. 66 or No. 70 -- will be determined at a later date. Jeff Green currently drives the No. 66, while Johnny Sauter is in the No. 70. Both drivers will be evaluated during the final seven races before Haas CNC makes a decision on its '08 lineup.
"We're very happy to welcome Scott Riggs to Haas CNC Racing," team general manager Joe Custer said. "It's exciting for us to land a driver with Scott's leadership experience and great attitude.
"We're confident in our equipment, so from a competition standpoint one of Matt's [Borland, Director of Competition] challenges is to find the right personnel combinations to get the most out of it. We believe Scott has the ability to get every bit of speed a car can offer. That's very important to us."
Riggs is wrapping up a disappointing four-year stint in the No. 10 Dodge under the Ray Evernham/Gillett Evernham Motorsports/Valvoline umbrella. In 129 starts, Riggs has four top-10 finishes and 15 top-10s.
His best career finishes was as runner-up to then-teammate Jeremy Mayfield on Aug. 21, 2005 at Michigan.
Riggs has failed to qualify for six races this year and is 36th in the point standings. He has one top-10 finish -- eighth at Martinsville -- four DNFs and an average finish of 28.4 in 23 starts.
