Married couple manages local chapter for ONMC

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Frank and Maria Premont have been members of the Official NASCAR Members Club almost since the club's beginning in February 2005.

This husband-and-wife team manages a local chapter, two jobs, two children still at home, an abiding passion for NASCAR racing and a serious commitment to the Victory Junction Gang Camp on a weekly basis, and when the series comes to Martinsville Speedway, it's almost like a breath of fresh air.

"When it's right here, at home, it's fun getting involved in the at-track action at Martinsville," Frank Premont said. "That's when we get to go out and have fun with our fellow members."

Local Chapter No. 274061 in Greensboro sits less than 15 miles from the front gate of the Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, N.C., and that's a big incentive for both Frank and Maria.

"Our chapter does a lot of fund-raising for the VJGC, and right now, I'm building collection bins for the camp," says Frank, who earns his living as an aircraft sheet metal mechanic. "I take race tires, cut slots in them for the money to slide into, put a sheet-metal back with hinges so that money can be removed at the camp, and cover the front with Plexiglas. We have 10 under construction right now."

It's the little things that pay off for the Premonts. "We enjoy it," Frank said. "We like what it does for the kids, seeing the good it does for the camp. That's why we do it."

Both Premonts are very active with club activities when work schedules allow, and Maria is probably the biggest Tony Stewart fan around. Both she and Frank were front row and center for Smoke's appearance this past fall at Charlotte.
