Skinner hopes to squash recent skid at Milwaukee (cont'd)
In '04, he was well off the pace and finished 29th. The following year he was two laps down to the leaders in a 16th-place finish and last year saw him just miss the top 10 finishing 11th.
Skinner is hoping his No. 5 Toyota Tundra continues that upward trend.
"I am very excited about racing this weekend in Milwaukee," Skinner said. "We haven't raced that well there in the past, but this weekend we are taking one heck of a truck. This is the same truck I ran at Martinsville and Mansfield this year, it's awesome."
And he's not lying.
At Martinsville, Skinner led all but seven laps when he cruised to his third victory of the season and at Mansfield he led the first 53 laps until rain came, red-flagging the race. When Skinner decided to pit, half of the field stayed out and he restarted 25th. Skinner was able to move up to a fourth-place finish when all was said and done.
If Skinner needs anymore inspiration, all he has to do is look at Bill Davis Racing teammate Johnny Benson. Last year, Toyota sponsored two races in the Truck Series, Milwaukee and Nashville and both races were won by Benson. So, can Skinner keep the manufacturer's win streak intact?
"The race this weekend is sponsored by Toyota, so hopefully we can get one in Victory Lane," Skinner said. "If we're able to capitalize in the end, then so be it."
