7:35 p.m. -- RACE HAS BEEN CALLED. JEFF GORDON WINS THE RAIN-SHORTENED POCONO 500!!!

7:21 p.m. -- Race is still under red flag while the dryers continue to dry off the track.

7:03 p.m. -- Car covers are going on the cars and dryers are on the track.

Lap 107 -- RED FLAG: The race has been stopped due to rain.

Lap 106 -- Caution is still out and NASCAR is bringing all the cars down pit road.

Lap 104 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 4: Caution is out for rain.

3. Martin Truex Jr.
4. Casey Mears
5. Tony Stewart

Lap 103 -- Jeff Gordon's lead is shrinking. He is in front of Ryan Newman by just 1.2 seconds.

Lap 102 -- Jimmie Johnson is back on the track after a trip to the garage following a flat tire. He is scored in 42nd position.

Lap 101 -- The race is official. Jeff Gordon leads by two seconds in front of second place Ryan Newman. Kyle Busch passes Matt Kenseth for eighth.

Lap 100 -- Martin Truex Jr. passes Casey Mears for third.

Lap 100 -- LEAD CHANGE: Carl Edwards pits giving the lead to Jeff Gordon. Gordon and Mears can stay out until about Lap 114.

Lap 99 -- Ryan Newman catches Casey Mears and passes him for third.

Lap 97 -- Ricky Rudd gives up second place and hits pit road. Jeff Gordon up to second. It has not started raining yet.

Lap 96 -- Reed Sorenson makes his green flag pit stop. Carl Edwards leads by 9.138 seconds in front of second-place Ricky Rudd. Jeff Gordon and Casey Mears are sitting third and fourth.

Lap 95 -- LEAD CHANGE: Carl Edwards inherits the lead when Denny Hamlin hits pit road. Juan Montoya gives up third for his pit stop.

Lap 93 -- Jimmie Johnson takes his car to the garage. Denny Hamlin leads with Carl Edwards second and Juan Montoya third. Kurt Busch is on pit road.

Lap 92 -- LEAD CHANGE: Denny Hamlin takes the lead when Ryan Newman hits pit road.

Lap 92 -- Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr. are on pit road as is Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman.

Lap 91 -- Jimmie Johnson's left-front tire blows. No caution is out. Martin Truex Jr. gives up second to hit pit road.

Lap 87 -- Rain is close and most of the lead-lap cars might not have enough fuel to get to Lap 101, the halfway point of the race which would make this an official race.

Lap 86 -- Ryan Newman leads by 1.6 seconds in front of second-place Martin Truex Jr. Tony Stewart sits third with Denny Hamlin fourth and Matt Kenseth fifth.

Lap 83 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jeff Gordon is on pit road and gives up the lead to Ryan Newman. Casey Mears is also on pit road.

Lap 82 -- Ryan Newman is on the move with his fresher tires. He finally caught Casey Mears and makes the pass for second.

Lap 81 -- Dark rain clouds are to the north and west of the track.

Lap 78 -- Jeff Gordon has a 1.2 second lead on second-place Casey Mears.

Lap 76 -- Martin Truex Jr. passes Mark Martin for fifth.

Lap 75 -- Tony Stewart passes Mark Martin for fourth.

Lap 74 -- Tony Stewart and Martin Truex Jr. are now up to fifth and sixth on their fresher tires.

Lap 73 -- Ryan Newman is now up to third after passing Mark Martin.

Lap 70 -- Ryan Newman is up to fourth after passing Elliott Sadler and Joe Nemechek on fresher tires.

Lap 67 -- GREEN FLAG: Jeff Gordon brings the field to the green.

Lap 67 -- Crew chiefs are reporting rain is in the area.

Lap 66 -- Most of the leaders hit pit road and most take just two tires. Ryan Newman wins race off pit road and will restart seventh.

Lap 66 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jeff Gordon takes the lead as he stays out while most of the other teams hit pit road. In all, six guys stay out including Gordon, Casey Mears, Mark Martin, Elliott Sadler, Joe Nemechek and Ward Burton.

Lap 64 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 3: Debris is on the racetrack in Turn 3.

Lap 62 -- Jeff Gordon is reporting brake problems to crew chief Steve Letarte.

Lap 61 -- Martin Truex Jr. passes Kyle Busch for fourth.

Lap 59 -- GREEN FLAG: Ryan Newman brings the field to the green.

Lap 56 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 2: Greg Biffle gets into the side of Dave Blaney and Blaney smacks the rear of his car hard into the wall. David Gilliland is the lucky dog and will be back on the lead lap.

Lap 55 -- LEAD CHANGE: Ryan Newman has a great restart and takes the lead from Denny Hamlin.

Lap 54 -- GREEN FLAG: Denny Hamlin brings the field to the green.

Lap 49 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 1 -- Robby Gordon blows his left front tire. Tony Raines is the lucky dog and gets back on the lead lap.

Lap 47 -- Tony Raines is now a lap down. Denny Hamlin leads by 1.6 seconds in front of Tony Stewart.

Lap 43 -- A.J. Allmendinger and David Gilliland are now a lap down.

Lap 37 -- Johnny Sauter and Bill Elliott are a lap down and David Reutimann is close to joining them.

Lap 35 -- Ryan Newman passes Kyle Busch for fourth.

Lap 34 -- LEAD CHANGE: Denny Hamlin gets around Tony Stewart for the lead.

Lap 33 -- After the first round of green flag pit stops the top five looks like this:

Lap 30 -- LEAD CHANGE: Tony Stewart leads after Casey Mears hits pit road.

Lap 29 -- Casey Mears gives up the lead and hits pit road. They make an air pressure adjustment and he is away.

Lap 28 -- LEAD CHANGE: Casey Mears takes the lead as Martin Truex Jr. hits pit road. Jimmie Johnson also pits.

Lap 27 -- LEAD CHANGE: Martin Truex Jr. takes the lead when Denny Hamlin hits pit road along with Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon. Gordon makes no changes, Earnhardt and Hamlin with minor adjustments.

Lap 26 -- Kyle Busch is on pit road, he takes four tires and they make an air pressure adjustment. Ryan Newman also in and he makes adjustments and takes tires.

Lap 26 -- Green flag pit stops begin as Chad McCumbee hits pit road along with Tony Stewart.

Lap 25 -- Kyle Busch continues to fall as Ryan Newman passes Busch for fourth.

Lap 23 -- Martin Truex Jr. is around Kyle Busch for third.

Lap 22 -- Denny Hamlin and Tony Stewart are now four seconds in front of third-place Kyle Busch.

Lap 19 -- Jeff Burton continues to fall, J.J. Yeley makes the pass for 10th.

Lap 18 -- Jeff Gordon is on the move. He passes Jeff Burton for ninth after starting 13th.

Lap 16 -- Denny Hamlin is cruising. He has led all 16 laps and currently leads Tony Stewart by 0.679 seconds.

Lap 12 -- Martin Truex Jr. passes Ryan Newman for fourth.

Lap 10 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. passes Kasey Kahne for seventh.

Lap 9 -- Denny Hamlin and Tony Stewart have distanced themselves from the field by more than a second.

Lap 8 -- The battle on the track right now is for seventh as Kasey Kahne, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Casey Mears and Jeff Burton are all battling.

Lap 5 -- Tony Stewart passes Kyle Busch for second. Denny Hamlin still leads.

Lap 3 -- Cars are starting to lineup single file. Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart followed Denny Hamlin on the outside to pass Ryan Newman.

Lap 1 -- LEAD CHANGE: Denny Hamlin leads the first lap and grabs five bonus points.

5:04 p.m. -- GREEN FLAG: Ryan Newman leads the field to the green flag and up to speed.

4:55 p.m. -- The race hasn't started yet, they are using the cars to help dry the track so they have extended the warm-up period.

4:45 p.m. -- The cars are rolling off pit road and onto the track.

4:40 p.m. -- Three members of our military deliver the words everyone has been waiting for: "Gentlemen, start your engines!"

4:33 p.m. -- Danielle Peck sings the National Anthem.

4:32 p.m. -- Invocation

4:31 p.m. -- Clarke Lewis sings God Bless America.

4:30 p.m. -- The Pocono crowd pays tribute to Bill France Jr.

4:19 p.m. -- Overall this should be a delay that lasts about two and a half hours. The race was originally scheduled to go green at 2:20 p.m., the new scheduled green flag drop is 4:50 p.m.

4:16 p.m. -- We will definitely see some racing. Drivers have to be at their cars by 4:20 p.m. Invocation is scheduled to be delivered at 4:30 p.m.

4:12 p.m. -- Good news race fans, the drivers are heading to their cars and the car covers are coming off. The sun is peeking through the clouds at Pocono and it looks like they will get to racing very soon.

3:42 p.m. -- Well the rain has stopped again and track drying has resumed. There is still hope they can get the race in today although daylight is starting to run out.

3:25 p.m. -- The rain is really starting to come down now and it's becoming a real concern the race might be postponed until tomorrow.

3:03 p.m. -- The rain has stopped at Pocono and hopefully they will be racing within the hour.

2:28 p.m. -- Track drying continues but it has started sprinkling again.

1:55 p.m. -- Track drying efforts are under way.

1:30 p.m. -- Less than an hour away from the scheduled drop of the green flag but the weather is not cooperating. The track is wet and it's still raining at Pocono.
