CHECKERED FLAG -- Juan Montoya makes the fuel last and wins the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma, his first career Nextel Cup Series victory. He is the first foreign-born driver to win a Cup race since 1974.

WHITE FLAG -- Juan Montoya tries to save fuel as the leader.

Lap 109 -- Jamie McMurray's car bobbled and may be out of fuel. He got power back, but slowed again before Turn 4.

Lap 108 -- Fourth-place Carl Edwards is out of fuel and coasting around to pit road.

Lap 108 -- The top four cars are within reach of each other in the closing laps. Juan Montoya continues to lead, but does he have enough fuel?

Lap 106 -- Tony Stewart passes Jeff Gordon in the corner and slides and makes contact with Gordon. Both continue.

Lap 105 -- Kyle Busch makes a stop for fuel.

Lap 104 -- LEAD CHANGE: Coming through Turn 4, Juan Montoya moves inside of Jamie McMurray and takes the lead.

Lap 102 -- Juan Montoya gets the inside line in Turn 11 and makes the pass on leader Jamie McMurray, but momentum carries him deep into the corner and McMurray drives back by.

Lap 101 -- Ron Fellows hits pit road for fuel, giving up ninth place.

Lap 99 -- Juan Montoya makes contact with Jamie McMurray trying to make the pass for the lead, but McMurray holds him off.

Lap 97 -- Leader Jamie McMurray reports his car is sputtering at points on the track. He is in communication with his team trying to figure out the issue.

Lap 92 -- Juan Montoya gets around Kevin Harvick in Turn 11 by diving under him in the corner.

Lap 91 -- With less than 20 laps to go, Jamie McMurray, Kevin Harvick and Juan Montoya are within 1.3 seconds of each other.

Lap 86 -- Fuel strategy will likely win the race. Leader Jamie McMurray cannot make it to the end, his team says. Kevin Harvick apparently can.

Lap 78 -- Joe Nemechek spins his car around in Turn 11 but gets it going again.

Lap 77 -- Jeff Gordon gives up second position to make his pit stop. He takes fuel only with hopes of gaining track position.

Lap 76 -- Matt Kenseth spins his car around and creates a huge cloud of smoke. He gets straight and drives away.

Lap 75 -- LEAD CHANGE: Tony Stewart gives up the point to make his scheduled stop. Jamie McMurray inherits the lead. Ryan Newman and Jimmie Johnson are also in for stops.

Lap 75 -- Robby Gordon is in for his pit stop after running in second. He gets four tires and fuel, no adjustments.

Lap 74 -- Martin Truex Jr. is on pit road for his stop. He leaves and then drops two tires off the track but continues.

Lap 72 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. gives up second position to make his scheduled pit stop. He gets four tires and a full tank of fuel, no adjustments.

Lap 70 -- LEAD CHANGE: Tony Stewart out-brakes Robby Gordon in the corner before the esses and takes command. Dale Earnhardt Jr. slips by Gordon in Turn 11.

Lap 70 -- GREEN FLAG: Robby Gordon gets them going again.

Lap 69 -- Jeff Green is clocked for speeding exiting pit road, plus he has to return to repair fender damage from hitting Johnny Sauter leaving his stall. Green's car catches on fire but is extinguished on pit road.

Lap 68 -- Several cars hit pit road; leader Robby Gordon stays out:
• Jamie McMurray gets four tires and fuel
• Carl Edwards has a quick stop and gets loaded with fuel
• Boris Said pits early; he stalls the car and the crew has to push-start him
• Kurt Busch seeks a chassis adjustment and tires
• Jeff Green makes contact with teammate Johnny Sauter

Lap 67 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 7: Reed Sorenson hops the curb and slides into the wall with damage.

Lap 62 -- Kurt Busch spins it around in Turn 11 after a bump from Juan Montoya. Busch gets up to speed.

Lap 62 -- Butch Leitzinger spins into the grass but gets his car going again.

Lap 62 -- Jamie McMurray takes second position from Carl Edwards.

Lap 44 -- LEAD CHANGE: Ron Fellows pits under caution, handing the lead to Carl Edwards. Fellows gets an air-pressure adjustment and nearly stalls his car leaving.

Lap 43 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 4: Debris is on the track, a large piece of metal across from pit road.

Lap 43 -- Jeff Gordon is in for a stop and gets four tires, fuel and minor repairs to some cosmetic damage.

Lap 42 -- LEAD CHANGE: Ron Fellows becomes the new leader after Tony Stewart heads to pit road for tires and fuel.

Lap 41 -- LEAD CHANGE: Denny Hamlin makes his pit stop, giving the lead to Tony Stewart.

Lap 38 -- Jimmie Johnson hits pit road to make his scheduled stop for a chassis adjustment.

Lap 37 -- LEAD CHANGE: Denny Hamlin out-brakes Jimmie Johnson in Turn 11 to take the point.

Lap 36 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jamie McMurray and Boris Said give up first and second to make their stops. Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch are also in for their stops. No changes for McMurray; Said gets a chassis adjustment. Jimmie Johnson leads.

Lap 35 -- LEAD CHANGE: Robby Gordon hits pit road for his stop, giving the lead to Jamie McMurray. No adjustments, but a slow stop.

Lap 34 -- RCR cars Jeff Burton and Kevin Harvick dive onto pit road for their stops. Wedge and drop in air pressure for Harvick; few changes for Burton. Martin Truex Jr. makes his stop.

Lap 33 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. is on pit road for a scheduled pit stop, his first of the afternoon. He gets four tires and fuel, no changes. He was running fourth.

Lap 32 -- Juan Montoya gets into Jimmie Johnson and makes slight contact. Johnson returns the favor with a slight bump. They are running 12th and 13th.

Lap 30 -- GREEN FLAG: Robby Gordon gets the race going again.

Lap 27 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 3: Debris is on the track. It appears that a brake hose fell off of one of the cars.

Lap 19 -- Jamie McMurray gets by Dale Earnhardt Jr. to take second position.

Lap 19 -- After the spin, Kyle Busch drops from 17th to 41st on the track.

Lap 18 -- Kyle Busch tries to out-brake Juan Montoya after losing position, then spins around in Turn 11. No contact, but he is forced to watch the entire grid drive by.

Lap 17 -- GREEN FLAG: Robby Gordon gets things going again.

Lap 16 -- David Ragan's crew allows a tire to get away, forcing him to the rear of the field

Lap 15 -- Only a few cars head to pit road:

• Tony Stewart is in for tires and fuel, doing the opposite of the leaders
• A total of 12 cars make stops

Lap 14 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 2: Sterling Marlin couldn't make it back to pit road with his expired engine.

Lap 14 -- Jeff Gordon makes his second pit stop to get four tires.

Lap 14 -- Sterling Marlin is off the pace and reports he has blown his motor.

Lap 13 -- Juan Montoya has worked his way from his 32nd starting position to 20th. Like some others, he is running a short gear where he does not use fourth gear.

Lap 10 -- Tony Stewart hits pit road early for a stop, beginning the wide-range of pit strategy on the road course. He was running ninth at the time and comes out 39th.

Lap 8 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. looks to the inside of Robby Gordon through the esses and continues to challenge for the lead. J.J. Yeley makes a pit stop.

Lap 5 -- GREEN FLAG: Robby Gordon gets the race back under way.

Lap 2 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 1: Marc Goossens has stopped in Turn 11 after the contact with Kyle Petty and Matt Kenseth.

Lap 1 -- Matt Kenseth, Kyle Petty and Marc Goossens tangle in the 11th paperclip corner. Petty has some damage.

Lap 1 -- Robby Gordon leads the first lap, followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jamie McMurray.

Lap 1 -- Tony Stewart slides off the track in the first turns and loses a significant amount of track position as they go three-wide into the esses.

5:22 p.m. -- GREEN FLAG: Jamie McMurray and Robby Gordon get the race going, heading up the hill to the first set of turns.
