Lap 65 -- Smoke is coming from Matt Kenseth's car. He switched to the backup battery and it appears to have solved the problem.

Lap 61 -- The top three drivers, and four of the top six, are Chasers. Aside from Kevin Harvick (42nd), the lowest Chase driver is running 21st.

Lap 50 -- Turns out Kevin Harvick's flat was on the left side instead of the right. That's why his initial stop didn't fix the problem.

Lap 49 -- Robby Gordon heads to pit road to make his scheduled stop. He did not pit during the second caution when most of the field did.

Lap 47 -- LEAD CHANGE: After moving to the high side for a lap, Jimmie Johnson goes low and gets around Jamie McMurray for the lead.

Lap 46 -- Jimmie Johnson uses the low line to pass second-place Kurt Busch.

Lap 43 -- Kevin Harvick is back on pit road because the car isn't "feeling right." His crew changes four tires. Harvick falls to three laps down.

Lap 41 -- After starting 21st, David Gilliland has worked his way up to seventh.

Lap 32 -- Kevin Harvick is on pit road to get right-side tires. He indeed has a flat right-side tire.

Lap 29 -- Kevin Harvick is dropping back and has told his crew he thinks he has a tire going down.

Lap 27 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jamie McMurray rolls by his teammate Matt Kenseth to take the lead.

Lap 26 -- LEAD CHANGE: Matt Kenseth gets on the inside of Robby Gordon to take the point.

Lap 25 -- LEAD CHANGE: Robby Gordon gets around Kyle Petty to lead. Petty drops back to sixth.

Lap 24 -- GREEN FLAG: Kyle Petty gets the race back under way.

• Dale Earnhardt Jr. gains several positions and comes out 10th
• Most of the leaders get just two tires

Lap 20 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 2: David Ragan crashes into the wall in the tri-oval after making contact with Reed Sorenson. Ragan has major right-front fender damage.

Lap 17 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jimmie Johnson gets around Jamie McMurray to take the top spot.

Lap 11 -- Officials are monitoring David Reutimann's car. After returning to the track, his car is dragging something in the rear.

Lap 9 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jamie McMurray makes his move to the inside of Ryan Newman for the lead. Jimmie Johnson also gets around Newman.

Lap 8 -- Jamie McMurray pulls to the inside of leader Ryan Newman and races side-by-side.

Lap 5 -- GREEN FLAG: Ryan Newman leads the field to green.

Lap 2 -- David Reutimann hits pit road to get some repairs.

Lap 1 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 1: David Reutimann gets into the gravel in Turn 4 and smacks the wall. Sparks fly, and Reutimann's car has right-side damage. Ryan Newman leads the first lap.

7:46 p.m. -- GREEN FLAG: Ryan Newman and Jimmie Johnson get the Bank of America 500 under way.

7:39 p.m. -- Cars are rolling on the racetrack.

7:35 p.m. -- Contest winner Johnny Fink delivers the command in her best fashion: "Gentlemen, start yoooooooouuuuurrrr engines!"

7:25 p.m. -- Whiskey Falls performs the national anthem.

7:24 p.m. -- Invocation.

7:13 p.m. -- J.J. Yeley will be going to the rear due to starting the race in a backup car.

7 p.m. -- ABC's pre-race coverage is on the air.

Lap 337 -- CHECKERED FLAG: Jeff Gordon holds on and wins the Bank of America 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Lap 336 -- Jeff Gordon takes the white flag as the leader.

Lap 335 -- GREEN FLAG: Jeff Gordon gets the race going again.

Lap 334 -- There will be a green-white-checkered finish. Jeff Gordon and teammate Kyle Busch (third) are running on the apron with fears of being out of fuel.

Lap 333 -- NASCAR is having a quickie caution. Jimmie Johnson is on pit road for fuel and tires.

Lap 331 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jeff Gordon becomes the leader after Ryan Newman crashes. But Gordon is afraid he may be out of gas because his car is sputtering.

Lap 331 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 15: Leader Ryan Newman spins out in Turn 2 and slams the wall.

Lap 329 -- LEAD CHANGE: Ryan Newman flies by leaders Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch. Gordon apparently had issues on the restart and Busch got stuck behind him.

Lap 329 -- GREEN FLAG: Jeff Gordon gets the race back under way.

Lap 326 -- Denny Hamlin is on pit road. His car is stuck in high gear.

Lap 325 -- Pit road is open for a quickie yellow. A handful of lead-lap cars come in for tires, including Kurt Busch, Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Lap 324 -- YELLOW FLAG (11:41 p.m. ET): Cars are rolling again after cleaning the speedway.

Lap 324 -- RED FLAG (11:30 p.m. ET): NASCAR has stopped the race to clean the oil spilt all over the track.

Lap 324 -- Denny Hamlin heads to pit road although it is closed. He has a problem and was being pushed at one time by teammate J.J. Yeley.

Lap 323 -- Jeff Green hits pit road. His car was spitting fluid on the track and may have resulted in Johnny Sauter's spin.

Lap 321 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 14: Johnny Sauter spins coming off Turn 4. As he spins, Bobby Labonte and Jeff Green slow.

Lap 312 -- Jimmie Johnson has rebounded and now runs eighth.

Lap 308 -- Kyle Busch catches Clint Bowyer and runs side-by-side before finally taking the position.

Lap 300 -- Jeff Gordon keeps turning the fastest laps and now leads Clint Bowyer by 4.017 seconds.

Lap 293 -- Clint Bowyer makes work of Ryan Newman for second and sets his sights on leader Jeff Gordon.

Lap 288 -- Clint Bowyer quickly passes Kyle Busch for third.

Lap 287 -- Clint Bowyer and Jeff Burton move around Bobby Labonte to take fourth and fifth.

Lap 284 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jeff Gordon drives below Kyle Busch to take the top spot.
