A recap of Jimmie Johnson's and Kyle Busch's victories in the Phoenix desert.
4 -- Jimmie Johnson became the fourth driver since 2000 to win consecutive Cup races at Phoenix. Jeff Burton, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kevin Harvick are the other three.
No 48. Chevrolet: Who else? Crew chief Chad Knaus called for a two-tire stop and air-pressure adjustment on Lap 200 and the 48 car was first out of the pits, marking a 12-spot improvement. Jimmie Johnson led his first laps of the race and from there coasted to the title.

Jimmie Johnson led the most laps Saturday night at Phoenix but it took a huge gamble on fuel for him to record his first victory of 2008. With the race winding down, it became apparent most drivers would run out of fuel before th checkered flag so one-by-one, drivers came in for a splash of gas. Not the No. 48, though, who decided to stay out and coast to a seven-second win in front of second-place Clint Bowyer.

It was a record day at Phoenix for Ryan Newman as he won his fourth pole at PIR, a track record, and his 43rd pole in the Cup Series, tying him for 10th on the all-time list with Buck Baker. It wasn't a gimme though, as fellow Dodge driver Elliott Sadler qualified second, just .009 seconds behind. Johnny Sauter took over the No. 70 Haas CNC Chevy after it fell out of the top 35 and did what he was supposed to do, getting it in the race. Kyle Petty and John Andretti weren't as fortunate -- they were the two drivers to not make the field.

Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards had the cars to beat on Friday night, but it was the work of the crews that separated the two -- and helped push Kyle Busch to a second consecutive win in the Nationwide Series. Edwards had a three-second lead on Busch when the caution came out on Lap 178, but Busch beat Edwards off of pit road and led through the green-white-checkered finish for the victory.
