After 10 races, Clint Bowyer doesn't lead the Nationwide Series in wins -- in fact, he doesn't lead the series in top-fives or poles, either. He is leading in top-10s, but there is one other stat that Bowyer is the leader and it's the most important of all -- the point standings.

Following a 25th-place finish at Talladega, Bowyer improved his lead for the championship from nine to 27 in front of Carl Edwards, despite some dominant runs this season from other Cup veterans.

Nationwide Series

2008 stats through the first 10 races
Driver Wins   Driver Top-fives   Driver Top-10s   Driver Poles
Kyle Busch 3   Kyle Busch 5   Clint Bowyer 7   Kyle Busch 2
Tony Stewart 3   Carl Edwards 5   Carl Edwards 6   Tony Stewart 2
Clint Bowyer 1   Clint Bowyer 4   Kyle Busch 5   Brian Vickers 1
Scott Wimmer 1   Kevin Harvick 4   Harvick 5   Colin Braun 1
Matt Kenseth 1   Tony Stewart 3   Four others tied at 5

All told, Bowyer has run 98.4 percent of the laps run and has led 200 of them. While 200 laps led puts him third behind Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart, Bowyer does have one thing going for him.

5.5Average start for Clint Bowyer in the Nationwide Series, tops among all drivers who have raced in all 10 races. Bowyer is the only driver to start inside the top 10 in all 10 races. He has started second (2), fourth (3), sixth, seventh, eighth (2) and 10th.

Now the series heads to Richmond for Friday's running of the Lipton TEA 250 (7 p.m. ET, ESPN2) at Richmond International Raceway -- a track where he consistently starts near the lead and if it's the spring race, look out. If it's the fall, don't expect too much.

Lucky for Bowyer it's May, which means expect his No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet up front after 250 laps under the lights in central Virginia.

"I don't think it's a mystery that I'm looking forward to going to Richmond," Bowyer said. "I'm hoping we can put Talladega behind us and pick our momentum back up and hang on to the points lead.

"We got wrecked in two races [at Richmond] but that's bound to happen sometimes. Unfortunately, in racing, that's part of it but it's still a track where I run well so I always look forward to it."
