Career wins for Bryan Reffner, who in October 2000 won at Texas from his fifth -- and last -- career pole. After finishing ninth in points that year, Reffner made only 13 more series starts. Reffner is one of four drivers to post their first series victory at Texas: Travis Kvapil (2001); Brendan Gaughan (2002); Clint Bowyer (2006). It marks Bowyer's only win in seven career Truck Series starts.
Top-fives at Texas for Kyle Busch, also matching his number of DNFs in four starts there. Both top-fives -- third-place and runner-up finishes in the November months of 2005 and 2006, respectively -- came in the No. 15 truck of Billy Ballew Motorsports. His only start in his current 51 ride for the same team, in November 2007, resulted in a DNF (engine) after 70 laps though he led 27 of them.
Consecutive engine failures at Texas for Johnny Benson in the No. 23 Toyota of Bill Davis Racing. Benson has completed just 285 of a possible 466 laps during that span. In his first four starts at Texas, all in the 23, Benson had consecutive runner-up finishes and three top-fives. His worst finish during that stretch was 13th. Benson's average starting position in seven starts is 5.7 including fourth in both DNFs last year.
Wins at Texas for Todd Bodine and Brendan Gaughan, most in track history. Gaughan is the only driver to sweep the season series, doing so in both 2002 and 2003. He also has two runner-up finishes including November 2007. Bodine is the only other driver with back-to-back wins at Texas, in November 2005 and June 2006. Bodine is this race's defending winner.
Times Texas has been won from the pole: Jay Sauter (1999); Greg Biffle and Bryan Reffner (2000); Clint Bowyer (2006); Todd Bodine (2007). Of that group only Jay Sauter with two poles has more than one at Texas. Coincidentally, Mike Skinner leads all drivers with five poles and has started on the front row in the past seven races at Texas but never has won there.
Place of finish for Dennis Setzer in June 2006, the last, to date, of his 12 top-10s, which match Rick Crawford for the most at Texas. It also marks the last time Setzer finished on the lead lap, which he has done a series-best 13 times. Since posting six consecutive top-10s from September 2002 through June 2005 including one of his two wins, Setzer has just the one top-10 in the past five races at Texas.
Most top-fives at Texas, shared by three drivers: Rick Crawford, Jack Sprague and native Texan David Starr. Two of Sprague's top-fives were wins, the only one of the three with a victory there. Sprague has only one top-five since his last win in June 2005, although he has finished sixth twice since then. Crawford has top-fives in three of the past four races whereas Starr has but one top-five in the same span.
Career starts at Texas for Mike Skinner, who has amassed the most points during that span (1,320). Ted Musgrave is second with 1,176. Skinner has six consecutive top-five finishes at Texas, three times the runner-up. He has never finished worse than 11th. Skinner has led laps in all eight races for a track-best 458. His average starting position is 2.2; average finish is 4.8.
Most cautions in a race at Texas: June 1998 and October 2004. It's the only two times the winner did not start in the top 10. Tony Raines started 12th in 1998 in the slowest race on average (111.018) thanks to 46 caution laps, the most in a series race at Texas. Making his first career start at the track, Todd Bodine started 22nd in 2004 yet led a race-high 71 laps.
Final points rank for Kenny Irwin Jr. in 1997, his only full season in the Truck Series. Irwin had his only two series wins that year including a victory in the inaugural race at Texas. Starting fifth, Irwin made the only lead change in the race when he passed Mike Bliss after 112 laps and led the final 55 in the No. 98 Ford. Irwin finished the year with seven top-fives and 10 top-10s.
