One weekend, three races -- at three separate tracks. And one driver, running in all three events. Kyle Busch raced at Texas in Friday night's Craftsman Truck Series event. Then, on Saturday night he was in the Nationwide Series race at Nashville. Finally, Busch, who leads the Sprint Cup Series standings, ran that series' event at Pocono on Sunday afternoon. ... Busch chronicled his travels in a daily diary:

Sunday, June 8:

The weekend is over and it has been a tough 24 hours for me between the Nationwide race in Nashville and the Cup race today in Pocono. I felt like qualifying went OK for the Nationwide race but I knew early it was not going to be an easy night. We just didn't have the car capable of winning. We did have our problems there in the race but it was going to be a tall order for us to be able to win. After the race was over we hopped on the helicopter and made it back to Pocono sometime after 2 a.m. ET which gave me plenty of time to rest and get ready for the Cup race.

It wasn't fun to finish 43rd today but at least we're in a position to still be leading the point standings despite having a bad day. You're going to have good and bad days and we've had a lot of good days this year.

We knew before the race even started in Pocono that we were in for a long race, having to start at the back of the field and everything, but I felt like we had a pretty good car that would allow me to do the things I needed to get to the front of the field. Yesterday was hot in Pocono but today it felt even hotter.

The race started and I was able to pick up positions pretty quickly on the track. Then of course we had the accident with the 26 car. I saw him get high, loose and thought he had just faded back, especially after the 84 car passed him. I just didn't realize he was out there still and got into him. Before the race even started, we were adjusting the mirror there and broke it trying to get it to where I could see out the rear side of the car. So I didn't even see the 26 and couldn't clear myself. The spotter never said anything. I think I did more damage to my car than the 26 and I think he was at least able to finish the race. I'm sorry the thing happened the way it did.

The whole weekend was a little crazy and aside from the bad luck we had in the last 24 hours it wasn't that bad. I'm just looking forward to getting back to racing next weekend and putting the last two races of this weekend behind me. So I guess I'll see everyone next week in Michigan. Have a good week.

Saturday, June 7

Running that Texas Truck race sure seemed like a good idea up until the moment we rolled into the Pocono Raceway at 3:45 a.m. I actually feel pretty good. I was a bit disappointed in running second last night but with all the challenges we faced throughout the night, it wasn't that bad.

Since I had J.R. Norris practice and qualify the No. 51 Miccosukee/NOS Energy Drink Tundra, I had to go to the back before the start of the race. Right from the start I knew we would have to make significant changes to our truck to have any shot at finishing up front.

The truck wasn't near what I was looking for and what I felt like we would need. That's not the fault of J.R. Norris. He was in an impossible situation where he would have to try and get the truck how I wanted it and also try to come up with something that would work real well in traffic because we would start last. He had to do all this without the experience of driving in the Truck Series each week. I don't think he's been in a truck since late last season so he did the best he could.

The truck was just way too tight. We were floating the splitter through the corners. On the first stop, we took some rounds out of the front end to just get it to hook up a little bit better. We just fought it all night. The truck was really temperamental. I was fighting a tight-loose condition the rest of the night. I picked up some spots on restarts and somehow ended up with a chance to win that race. Finishing second to Ron Hornaday is pretty good and we'll take the points for both myself and Billy Ballew and head to Michigan next weekend.

We choppered immediately to the airport, stole a nap on the plane back to Pocono and returned to the track around 3:45 a.m. With about five hours of sleep under my belt, I was the second car on the track this morning for Cup practice. Steve and the guys made some significant changes to the No. 18 M&M's Camry overnight, but we were still chasing a tight condition that just would not get better. We made a few runs and got the car turning a little bit better. I had a bit of an issue at the end of the first practice. There is a patch of asphalt through Turn 3 that you want to run on. I just got loose on exit and I tried to save it. I felt like I had it saved and pointed it toward pit lane. However, I wasn't done wrecking and it just didn't go as planned. I nosed the car right into the inside wall and we're going to have to come from the back tomorrow in a backup. The guys worked hard to get it ready, we ran a few laps on it in Happy Hour and we'll see what we've got.

We flew to Nashville and I think it's hotter here then it was last night in Texas and that was about the hottest Truck race I've ever been in. Willie Allen practiced the No. 32 Dollar General Toyota and we'll see what we have in qualifying and in the race tonight. Talk to you guys later.

Friday, June 6:

After running Eldora on Wednesday night and getting into New Jersey around 2:30 a.m. and spending the day at Mars, we arrived in Wilkes-Barre about 6 p.m. and came straight to the track. I had some plans upon our arrival. When we came here to test last week, we found this great slick track to run the go-karts. I wanted to get over to see my friends at S&S Raceway and then try to get back to the track in time to watch the NBA Finals, but those plans went out the window when I just dozed off watching TV. I'll need the rest for this weekend, so I wasn't too disappointed.

We had a good practice this morning. We are 12th on the sheet, but we are fighting some of the same things we fought at the test here last week. We're still tight, and just not getting through the corners like I want to.

KYLE BUSCH

This morning was pretty easy really. It was nice to sleep in and get a good breakfast. A big bowl of Lucky Charms and some orange juice and I was good to go. Walked out the door, shot a quick spot for LifeLock, and then went to the hauler for my behind the hauler chat with the media. We had a big crowd out back today asking all kinds of questions. It's funny, I used to just host about a dozen people during my availability. The crowd has grown, that's for sure. It looked like we had about 25 people out there. Hopefully, I'll keep giving them something to talk about.

We had a good practice this morning in the No. 18 Toyota. We are 12th on the sheet, but we are fighting some of the same things we fought at the test here last week. We're still tight, and just not getting through the corners like I want to. Steve Addington, Chris Gale and the fellas are going to come up with something to throw at it and we'll be fine I'm sure.

I then went back to the motorhome to grab some lunch and stole a quick nap. Magic Mike, obviously inspired by the Top Chef marathon on TV this morning, threw together some grilled chicken with sweet pea risotto for lunch so I'm ready to go for qualifying. Since we're going to be on a tight schedule, I've written this right before I head out to pit road. Come back to NASCAR.COM to check out where I end up. Hopefully it's up near the top of the board.

My girlfriend Sam, Jeff, Cody and myself will be choppering over to the airport and getting to Texas as quickly as we can. We'll come from the back tonight since I missed qualifying, but I can't wait to get down there. Talk to you tomorrow.

Thursday, June 5: This is obviously a big weekend for me, racing in the three series in three different cities, but it's just been a big week period. Typically I don't get started racing until Friday but we started a few days early this week with the Prelude on Wednesday night at Eldora. We weren't able to pull off the win but we had a lot of fun and helped raise some money for a great cause.

The best way to explain it is that I'm a racer, so I want to be the guy that's there in the race.

KYLE BUSCH

After the race at Eldora we flew straight to New Jersey to get ready for a big day at M&M'S headquarters for the annual NASCAR day. There was something close to 1,000 Mars associates there. We had our entire team there, a band, lights -- the works.

Then of course it is off to Pocono and for the start of what is going to be one very full weekend of racing for me. There's been a lot of planning involved and I've been asked a lot of questions as to why I want to do this. The best way to explain it is that I'm a racer, so I want to be the guy that's there in the race. So I'm doing this because I'm a competitor but we also have championship implications in all three series.

We're racing the truck to help support Billy Ballew and his quest for a championship in the Craftsman Truck Series. He's been around for a few years and has never had the opportunity to do something like this so we're going to do what we can for him.

The Nashville race has been on the calendar all year and we said at the beginning of the season that the performance would dictate the schedule. We're second in the driver point standings and battling for a championship. Every point counts and I think it'd be foolish to not take advantage of the situation and go for a championship.

It's going to be busy but if I thought it would affect anything I have going on in the Cup car, I wouldn't be attempting it. I've got a great team of people around me that are coordinating the logistics and helping with the nutritional needs of running these races in three different cities. I don't worry about the ability to do it or the stamina required to pull this off.

The other thing too is I think it's fun for the fans to watch me try to pull this off. I think it's exciting for them to see whether I'll succeed or fail and there will be an element of fans that will tune in to all three races just to see what happens. But at the end of the day I'm a competitor. I'm a competitor because I like challenges and being challenged. This is just a different kind of challenge and I'm looking forward to it.
