DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- A total of 59 wins are divvied among Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth and Kevin Harvick. Yet, after 18 races in 2008, the three remain winless.
All that could change this weekend at the LifeLock.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. Actually, the statistics suggest a win from either of those three is likely.
Kenseth (16 career wins), Harvick (11 career wins) and Stewart (32 career wins) rank 1-2-3 in average Driver Rating over the past three Chicagoland races.
Tony Stewart
Going winless during the first half of the season is nothing new for Stewart. He did the same thing last year -- and broke the slump at Chicagoland. A win -- or at the very least, a solid finish -- is imperative for Stewart, who is just two points ahead of 13th-place Harvick for the final spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. His 32-race winless drought could end this Saturday night, under the lights. Below is Stewart's Chicagoland race log over the last three races, and how he ranks in some key Loop Data statistics:
| Date | Finish | ARP | FLR | LT15% | DR |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7/05 | 5 | 10.0 | 8 | 76.0% | 103.8 |
| 7/06 | 32 | 8.7 | 7 | 89.3% | 93.0 |
| 7/07 | 1 | 4.0 | 67 | 99.3% | 139.8 |
| Total | 12.7 | 7.6 | 82 | 88.2% | 112.2 |
Kevin Harvick
Harvick's last win came at the 2007 Daytona 500, 53 races ago. Harvick, who won the first two races ever held at Chicagoland in 2001 and 2002, has come close to Victory Lane once this season -- he finished second at Bristol. With two fourth-place finishes in the last two Chicagoland races and running all but four of the past 537 laps in the top 15, this weekend should be a solid chance for Harvick's victory hopes. Below is his Chicagoland race log since 2005:
| Date | Finish | ARP | FLR | LT15% | DR |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7/05 | 19 | 8.2 | 5 | 86.5% | 100.3 |
| 7/06 | 4 | 3.6 | 13 | 99.3% | 123.8 |
| 7/07 | 4 | 4.5 | 9 | 99.3% | 119.8 |
| Total | 9 | 5.4 | 27 | 95.0% | 114.6 |
Matt Kenseth
Winning at Homestead to finish the 2007 season, Kenseth's victory drought (18 races) is the smallest of the three drivers. With three top-fives and seven top-10s in the past eight races this season, Kenseth is on the verge of Victory Lane. Plus, he's done everything but win at Chicagoland over the last three races. Kenseth has led the most laps in two of the past three Chicagoland races (2005 and 2006), and has two runner-up finishes during that span. He has spent all but 12 of the last 804 laps running among the top 15. Here are his impressive statistics:
| Date | Finish | ARP | FLR | LT15% | DR |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7/05 | 2 | 1.7 | 83 | 100% | 144.6 |
| 7/06 | 22 | 5 | 45 | 97% | 115.3 |
| 7/07 | 2 | 5.1 | 18 | 98.5% | 118.7 |
| Total | 8.7 | 3.9 | 146 | 98.5% | 126.2 |
