Figuratively speaking

11 -- Career cup victories for 23-year-old Kyle Busch in 133 starts. At age 23, Richard Petty had just five victories in 101 starts. Saturday marked the 50th anniversary if Petty's first start, and Busch won the race.

Pit Crew of the Week

No 48. Chevrolet: Who else? Crew chief Chad Knaus called for a two-tire stop and air-pressure adjustment on Lap 200 and the 48 car was first out of the pits, marking a 12-spot improvement. Jimmie Johnson led his first laps of the race and from there coasted to the title.

Tip of the Week

Radiators are often ignored. Yet keeping engines cool and running in the right temperature range is critical to taking the heat off your engine.

• On a restart with two laps remaining in the 267-lap event at the 1.5-mile Chicagoland Speedway, Kyle Busch roared to the outside of leader Jimmie Johnson and cleared the No. 48 Chevrolet through Turns 3 and 4. On the final lap, Johnson made a run up to the bumper of Busch's No. 18 Joe Gibbs racing Toyota but could get no closer, as Busch held off the Chevy by .159 seconds at the finish to win the LifeLock.com 400.

Qualifying
• Afternoon thundershowers soaked Chicagoland Speedway, forcing cancellation of qualifying for the LifeLock.com 400 Sprint Cup race. Accordingly, the field was set according to the NASCAR rule book, with the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota of Kyle Busch starting from the pole and the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet of Dale Earnhardt Jr. in second. Terry Labonte and Bill Elliott used champions provisionals, while Tony Raines and Johnny Sauter failed to qualify.

Bill Marx of Sporting News Wire Service weighs in with his top 10:

Pos. Driver Need to know ...
1. Kyle Busch Incredible.
2. Carl Edwards It wasn't Edwards' fault his night went splitter splatter.
3. Matt Kenseth The old Kenseth is back. No doubt about it.
4. Brian Vickers He is pulling a Kenseth with less fanfare. Now 14th in points, 95 out of 12th.
5. Jimmie Johnson Johnson settles for third second-place of season. He had two all of last year.
6. Dale Earnhardt Jr Drops from first-place tie with Busch and Johnson in races led when he fails to lead a lap Saturday night. Junior has led 13 races.
7. Jeff Burton Chicagoland was the pits.
8. Tony Stewart Caps a big week with a fifth-place run.
9. Jeff Gordon He's sixth in points, but where's the pulse?
10. Kevin Harvick Harvick really needed that third-place finish. It was his first top-five since Bristol in March when he finished second.
