FORT WORTH, Texas -- In an effort to celebrate and honor the legacy of Dale Earnhardt and also to introduce the man known as "The Intimidator" to millions of new NASCAR fans, Motorsports Authentics in June launched a two-year program pairing NASCAR's most famous driver with legends from the entertainment world.

By featuring singers, songwriters, actors and other icons on the hood of Earnhardt's famous No. 3 Chevrolet, NASCAR fans can remember and learn what the "Man in Black" was all about. In addition to a personal connection, Dale also shares iconic characteristics with the legends that will be featured on the cars throughout this series.

The second car in the Legend series, "Dale and The Duke," features one of Earnhardt's heroes -- John Wayne.

Taylor Earnhardt and Marisa Wayne Ditteaux on Thursday were guests of the Fort Worth Stockyards, where Dale Earnhardt and John Wayne were honored as two of the greatest icons in American history. An Academy Award- and Golden Globe Award-winning American film actor, Wayne epitomized rugged masculinity and is an enduring American icon. "The Duke" is famous for his distinctive voice, walk and physical presence and is remembered as a tough, no-nonsense man who did not look for trouble but was relentless in tackling it when confronted. Similar to Earnhardt, Wayne gave the world the image of what an American should be.

Wayne was a legend of Hollywood. He was named one of "The 50 Greatest Screen Legends" by the American Film Institute and is commonly known as the "Greatest Cowboy Star of All Time." Wayne referred to himself as "the stuff men are made of." He epitomized rugged masculinity and is remembered as a tough, no nonsense man -- very similar to how Earnhardt's fans remember the seven-time Cup Series champion.

Earnhardt was a real-life cowboy. He is considered by millions of fans to be NASCAR's John Wayne, because of his highly aggressive driving style and down-to-earth, all-American personality.

Texas Motor Speedway is offering race fans the opportunity to be among the first to receive a die-cast replica of "Dale and The Duke" by purchasing four frontstretch tickets for November's Cup Series race. Only 333 specially designed pre-production die-cast collectables will be made available to fans who visit the TMS ticket office beginning at 9:03 a.m. CT Saturday.

Fans at the Speedway also will be part of the audience for the NASCAR Collector show on Sirius Satellite Radio as it broadcasts live from the speedway from 6-8 a.m. CT.
