Fort Worth's big attraction is the Stockyards.

Travel Log: Texas

Tour the Lone Star State by hitting the big stops

Narrow down the attractions to just one city in Texas? Yeah right.

Texas is the largest continental state, so traversing from top to bottom or east to west isn't really a day trip as much as it is a sprint race. So depending on which direction visitors are coming from can dictate which is the appropriate stop along the way.

From the old Alamo to a place called Beer Can House, all the way to a cattle drive near the racetrack, the entertainment in Texas is as big as advertised.

The Alamo -- This single building has become an American symbol of fighting for freedom and liberty. The Alamo fell to Mexican soldiers on March 6, 1836, but shortly thereafter, the Texas army used the battle as inspiration to defeat Santa Anna's army at the Battle of San Jacinto. "Remember the Alamo!" the Texans shouted, and since it has become a battle cry for courage and sacrifice.

Fans' Voice

rogerls420 -- You have to eat some barbecue when you are here! It's the best. Too bad they don't have a race in San Antonio -- some day! Houston's not far. Lots to do there, also.

33happy29 -- If you go into Fort Worth, there's a place called Angelo's. It's pretty damn good.

Twylla -- Sonny Bryan's is supposed to be the best.
