STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Gillett Evernham Motorsports on Friday announced that LifeLock, the nation's leading identity theft protection service, will sponsor the No. 10 Dodge with driver Patrick Carpentier in eight races in the 2008 Sprint Cup season.

"We are thrilled to partner with Gillett Evernham Motorsports and to serve as a cornerstone sponsor with Patrick Carpentier and the No. 10 Dodge team," LifeLock CEO Todd Davis said. "Patrick will be a great ambassador for our service to his many fans and to help spread the message of LifeLock's proactive identity theft protection service."

LifeLock, based in Tempe, Ariz., helps consumers to render their personal information useless to thieves, backing up its service with a $1 million guarantee. Famous for Davis giving out his social security number in advertising and national press, the company is experiencing astounding growth.

Carpentier said he was very familiar with the company before it entered into discussions with the race team.

"How can you not be? You turn on the television or radio and you hear the CEO give his social security number out," Carpentier said. "Heck, I think I even have it memorized. Before you ask, yes, I signed up for LifeLock but I don't plan on giving out my security number like he did. My family and I do feel a lot safer now, but you aren't getting any numbers from me!"

LifeLock will sponsor Carpentier at Phoenix on April 12, Talladega on April 27, Richmond on May 3, Darlington on May 10, Charlotte on May 25, Michigan on June 15, Chicagoland on July 12 and Kansas on Sept. 28.

Gillett Evernham Motorsports CEO Tom Reddin said the addition of LifeLock to the existing sponsorship lineup for the No. 10 of Valvoline, Auto Value/All Pro Bumper-to-Bumper, Charter and Cintas means there are few unsponsored races remaining on the No. 10 Dodge in 2008.

"Patrick has a genuinely friendly personality but he can also drive the wheels off of a car," Reddin said. "In just a short time, he has hit it off with NASCAR fans, sponsors, the media and his fellow drivers.

"Partnering with LifeLock is a natural. It is a very young company that has made a mark in just a brief time. They are an aggressive group that want to grow rapidly and that's the kind of partnership we particularly enjoy at Gillett Evernham Motorsports."

LifeLock has held sponsorship deals in NASCAR, open wheel and sports-car racing. Recently, it announced a three-year agreement to sponsor the June Sprint Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway.

LifeLock has created a special new offer for race fans interested in signing up for LifeLock's services. When signing up, fans will receive LifeLock services for free for the first 60 days by using the new promotional code "GEM". To sign up for LifeLock, fans can call 1-877-LIFELOCK or sign up online at www.lifelock.com.
