Joey Logano's Sprint Cup Series debut wasn't as successful as he'd hoped, driving the Joe Gibbs Racing-prepared No. 96 Toyota for Hall of Fame Racing.

Logano, 18, spent the day in the back of the field and finished 32nd, three laps down, thanks to some late-race attrition that actually improved his result.
"Not what I wanted -- that's for sure," said Logano, who will succeed Stewart in the No. 20 Toyota next year. "It was a tough one. We tried hard, but it just wasn't there the whole time.
"We started so far back in the hole trying to get this car good, and we just got close to it [a workable setup] too late."
Logano is scheduled to drive five more Sprint Cup races in 2008, one for Joe Gibbs Racing in the No. 02 Toyota at Atlanta, and four for Hall of Fame Racing in the No. 96 at Kansas, Charlotte, Martinsville and Texas.
With the 32nd-place finish, the No. 96 remains 39th in the series' owner standings, 262 points behind the 35th-place No. 7 of Robby Gordon Motorsports.
