Carl Edwards' aggression put teammates Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth on the hauler with ruined cars.

Biffle, Kenseth have moved on after Talladega wreck

Edwards sorry, teammates say accident was just that

CONCORD, N.C. -- Shoving matches with Kevin Harvick aside, at least Carl Edwards can rest easy that his Roush Fenway Racing teammates have, albeit somewhat grudgingly, forgiven him for wrecking them during the closing laps of last Sunday's Amp Energy 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

The much-discussed accident occurred with 13 laps remaining in last Sunday's Sprint Cup Series event, when Edwards' No. 99 Ford clipped the rear of teammate Greg Biffle's No. 16 machine as Biffle attempted to lead the pair through Turn 3 at Talladega. That spent both cars spinning and set off a massive wreck that eventually impacted a total of 12 cars, also collecting a third Roush Fenway car in Matt Kenseth's No. 17 Ford (watch video).

Ready to rumble

Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth have moved on but Kevin Harvick hasn't been so forgiving of Carl Edwards. On Thursday at Lowe's Motor Speedway the gloves came off, and a physical confrontation ensued.

"Carl and I have talked," Biffle said. "He understands he made a mistake and there's nothing we can do about that now."

Edwards apologized to both drivers, as well as others who were collected as costly collateral damage by virtue of his uncharacteristic driving error.

Edwards' rocky past with Kenseth -- whom he confronted and threw a fake punch at following a race last fall at Martinsville as Kenseth attempted to conduct a television interview -- is well documented. And Kenseth admittedly was slower than Biffle to accept Edwards' apology following the latest incident.

But in the end, all the teammates agreed to put it behind them. After all, all three remain in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship -- with Edwards and Biffle sitting in second and third, respectively, behind points leader Jimmie Johnson heading into Saturday's Bank of America 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. While Edwards is only 72 points behind Johnson and Biffle 77, Kenseth sits 245 points behind in ninth after the wreck -- and he admitted he wonders what might have been if he had been able to avoid fallout from Edwards' miscue.

"Our relationship is fine. We pretty much got over that deal from Martinsville and it's been all right," Kenseth said. "I was disappointed there was a wreck [at Talladega], but you knew there were going to be wrecks and you know some of that stuff is always going to happen there. (Continued)
