Turner Sports, Hendrick nominated for biz awards

Turner Sports and NASCAR.COM have been nominated by SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily for the inaugural Sports Business Awards.

The Sports Business Awards, presented by the Street & Smith publications, recognize excellence and outstanding achievement in the business of sports for 2007. More than 400 entries were submitted to the editorial committee for consideration, with the final nominees divided into 11 categories.

Turner Sports is one of four finalists in the Sports Media category. The others are CBS Sports, ESPN and FOX Sports.

NASCAR.COM was nominated for best Sports Online site. The other finalists are ESPN Digital Media, MLB Advance Media, Sports Illustrated Digital and Yahoo! Sports for the award.

Hendrick Motorsports received nomination for Professional Sports Team of the Year. Other nomimees are the Boston Red Sox (MLB), the Buffalo Sabres (NHL), the Phoenix Suns (NBA) and Toronto FC (MLS).

The award ceremony will be held May 29 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York.
