Despite a mending back injury, Elliot Sadler will start Sunday's Cup race at Martinsville Speedway.

Scott Sebastian, media relations for Dodge Motorsports, announced the driver will start the race; however, he may exit early if his back injury prevents him from finishing.

The driver of the No. 19 Dodge sustained a lower-back injury away from the racetrack Wednesday and the team tapped Dennis Setzer to stand by as a backup driver. Setzer practiced the Cup car on Friday but Sadler felt well enough to qualify the car.

"Nothing hurts a driver more than not being in his racecar with his team," Sadler said.

Sadler will start in the 25th on the grid.
