Lap 248 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. is back on pit road and the crew goes under the hood to check the right-front. A brake caliper is broken. Greg Biffle is also on pit road for his scheduled stop and gets a splash of fuel.
Lap 247 -- Twenty laps to go and Carl Edwards runs third, while Jimmie Johnson runs fifth. Johnson will for sure have to pit, and Edwards likely will.
Lap 246 -- David Reutimann is in for his final pit stop. He gets right-side tires and fuel.
Lap 245 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. is on pit road and is complaining that he "can't drive it." The team thinks the car has a flat tire and changes all four.

Lap 162 -- David Reutimann and Juan Montoya are in a hard battle for 10th position. Montoya makes a strong run on Reutimann and gets to his rear quarterpanel, then pulls to his high side to take the spot.

Lap 155 -- Kurt Busch is being penalized for too fast entering, too fast exiting and a commitment cone violation on pit road.
Lap 152 -- Carl Edwards officially clinches the 10 bonus points for leading the most laps in the Ford 400. Third place is the worst he can finish to still win the championship. A handful of cars pit, including Juan Montoya and Martin Truex Jr.
Lap 151 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 3: Kurt Busch has a flat tire that gives way and sends him into the wall coming off Turn 2.

Lap 129 -- Carl Edwards is in for his pit stop and is one of the last cars to pit. He gets four tires and fuel in 13.8 seconds.
Lap 128 -- Jimmie Johnson is in for his stop for changes and tires. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is in for fuel and tires.
Lap 127 -- Jeff Gordon and Jeff Burton are on pit road for changes and tires. David Reutimann makes his pit stop. Kevin Harvick is in and is loose, asking for changes.
Lap 126 -- Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch make pit stops. Both make major changes, including Busch, who is very unhappy with his car. Teammate Denny Hamlin is also in for a stop.
Lap 122 -- David Reutimann runs in third, but the spring that returns the throttle has fallen off. Reutimann now has to manually lift the throttle to slow the car.
