Lap 266 -- WHITE FLAG: Carl Edwards leads by 13 seconds and is slowing on the track to conserve. Kevin Harvick is in second. Jimmie Johnson remains 20th.

Lap 265 -- Two laps to go and Carl Edwards is coasting. Jimmie Johnson is 20th. Kyle Busch takes third position.

Lap 264 -- LEAD CHANGE: Matt Kenseth is out of fuel and pulls over. Carl Edwards is the new leader.

Lap 263 -- Four to go and Carl Edwards is drafting off Matt Kenseth.

Lap 262 -- Five laps to go. Matt Kenseth leads by 0.462 seconds.

Lap 261 -- Six laps to go and Jimmie Johnson is in 20th position. Carl Edwards is second.

Lap 260 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. is out of the race.

Lap 259 -- Carl Edwards may be in trouble for fuel after running hard for five laps. He and leader Matt Kenseth begin to slow to try to make it on fuel.

Lap 257 -- Matt Kenseth leads but may try to make it on fuel. Carl Edwards is on his tail in second with just 10 laps to go.

Lap 255 -- LEAD CHANGE: Matt Kenseth takes the lead as Tony Stewart gives up the top spot to pit for fuel only. Denny Hamlin also makes his pit stop for fuel.

Lap 254 -- Jimmie Johnson heads to pit road for his final pit stop. Johnson takes right-side tires and a can of fuel. He gets out smoothly.

Lap 251 -- Juan Montoya pits for two tires and fuel.

Lap 249 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s car is being pushed behind the wall.

Lap 248 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. is back on pit road and the crew goes under the hood to check the right-front. A brake caliper is broken. Greg Biffle is also on pit road for his scheduled stop and gets a splash of fuel.

Lap 247 -- Twenty laps to go and Carl Edwards runs third, while Jimmie Johnson runs fifth. Johnson will for sure have to pit, and Edwards likely will.

Lap 246 -- David Reutimann is in for his final pit stop. He gets right-side tires and fuel.

Lap 245 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. is on pit road and is complaining that he "can't drive it." The team thinks the car has a flat tire and changes all four.

Lap 244 -- LEAD CHANGE: Tony Stewart moves to the outside of Matt Kenseth for the lead.

Lap 243 -- Tony Stewart has caught Matt Kenseth and challenges for the lead.

Lap 240 -- With Marcos Ambrose 45 laps down with just 27 laps to go, the worst Jimmie Johnson can finish is 41st. That means Carl Edwards must win the race to have a chance to win the championship.

Lap 235 -- Matt Kenseth leads Tony Stewart by 2.115 seconds. Carl Edwards runs in fourth, and Jimmie Johnson is fifth.

Lap 232 -- Tony Stewart sails around Denny Hamlin for second. Carl Edwards closes in on Denny Hamlin.

Lap 231 -- Tony Stewart passes Carl Edwards for third and eyes teammate Denny Hamlin for second position.

Lap 227 -- Carl Edwards passes Jimmie Johnson for third. Tony Stewart follows and drops Johnson to fifth.

Lap 226 -- Kurt Busch is officially out of the race, leaving just 42 cars remaining in the race.

Lap 224 -- Jimmie Johnson runs in third, just ahead of Carl Edwards. The margin is a half-second.

Lap 216 -- Kurt Busch is heading to the garage but is not out of the race. He is the only car off the track.

Lap 215 -- Denny Hamlin passes Jimmie Johnson for second position.

Lap 213 -- Kyle Busch makes quick work of Tony Stewart to take fifth, and rides beside Carl Edwards while challenging for fourth.

Lap 204 -- Carl Edwards is in a side-by-side battle with Denny Hamlin for third position. Edwards gets loose but hangs on. Hamlin finally makes the pass.

Lap 168 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 4: Marcos Ambrose slams the wall coming out of Turn 4. As he came off the corner, Reed Sorenson was to his outside and he clipped the 41 car and turned into the wall.

Lap 163 -- Jimmie Johnson moves up to eighth position, 7.337 seconds behind leader Carl Edwards.

Lap 162 -- David Reutimann and Juan Montoya are in a hard battle for 10th position. Montoya makes a strong run on Reutimann and gets to his rear quarterpanel, then pulls to his high side to take the spot.

Lap 158 -- Paul Menard and Reed Sorenson make contact with each other as they jockey for 30th position among some of the front-runners.

Lap 155 -- Kurt Busch is being penalized for too fast entering, too fast exiting and a commitment cone violation on pit road.

Lap 152 -- Carl Edwards officially clinches the 10 bonus points for leading the most laps in the Ford 400. Third place is the worst he can finish to still win the championship. A handful of cars pit, including Juan Montoya and Martin Truex Jr.

Lap 151 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 3: Kurt Busch has a flat tire that gives way and sends him into the wall coming off Turn 2.

Lap 149 -- Running in 12th position, Jimmie Johnson goes between Martin Truex Jr. and Tony Raines to get out of a clogged mess on the track.

Lap 130 -- Brian Vickers is penalized for speeding on pit road and has to serve a pass-through penalty.

Lap 128 -- Jimmie Johnson is in for his stop for changes and tires. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is in for fuel and tires.

Lap 127 -- Jeff Gordon and Jeff Burton are on pit road for changes and tires. David Reutimann makes his pit stop. Kevin Harvick is in and is loose, asking for changes.

Lap 126 -- Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch make pit stops. Both make major changes, including Busch, who is very unhappy with his car. Teammate Denny Hamlin is also in for a stop.

Lap 122 -- David Reutimann runs in third, but the spring that returns the throttle has fallen off. Reutimann now has to manually lift the throttle to slow the car.

Lap 120 -- Jeff Gordon passes Casey Mears for eighth place, two laps after passing Matt Kenseth for ninth.

Lap 116 -- Jeff Gordon takes 10th place from teammate Jimmie Johnson.

Lap 114 -- Jimmie Johnson passes Clint Bowyer to take the 10th position.

Lap 110 -- David Reutimann is in third position and having a solid day.

Lap 106 -- David Ragan runs in second, trailing Carl Edwards by 6.388 seconds.
