SPARTA, Ky. -- Kentucky Speedway is inviting race fans to stake a claim to one of 450 new infield campsites that are on sale now.
Fans can reserve a 30-by-50 foot Trackside or Interior Campsite in the new Blue, White and Red campgrounds spanning from Turn 1 to Turn 4 for the 2009 season or a single race weekend. Infield campgrounds will open for the June 12-13 Nationwide Series weekend that will feature a race-day concert with country-music artist Pat Green.
Three-weekend, five-race Trackside Camping season memberships can be reserved for $500 and Interior Camping season memberships can be secured for $400 in each new campground. Single-weekend rates will be $300 for Trackside Campsites and $200 for Interior Campsites. Each campsite guest will be required to possess a personal campsite pass and guests wishing to access the speedway grandstand during events will require a race ticket. Guests may purchase as many as 10 individual campsite passes per site for $50 each. Campsites will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
"Infield camping is one of racing's great traditions and something our fans have inquired about for years. We know campers will jump at the chance to experience our events in a whole new way beginning with the NASCAR Nationwide Series Meijer 300 presented by Ritz weekend," Kentucky Speedway general manager Mark Simendinger said.
Fans can reserve an infield campsite by phoning 888-652-RACE (7223), logging on to http://www.kentuckyspeedway.com and clicking the "Stake A Claim" box in the left column of the official track Web site. Campsites also can be reserved by visiting the Kentucky Speedway ticket offices at 400 Buttermilk Pike, Suite 100, in Fort Mitchell, Ky., or the Sparta, Ky., Fan Center located off Interstate 71, Exit 57 and Ky. Hwy. 35 N. An infield camping map and campsite rules are available through the "Stake A Claim" box.
The facility opens May 9 with the ARCA Re/Max Series Drive Smart. Buckle-Up! Kentucky 150 featuring Dancing with the Stars competitor and country-music artist Chuck Wicks in concert. Season and single-race tickets are on sale now through the track's toll-free number, Web site and ticket offices.
