Since its inception, NASCAR has been a sport of statistics. From lap times to RPMs, the numbers behind the speed have captivated millions and provided a quantifiable measuring stick for evaluating racing greatness. However as the Chase heads to Charlotte on Oct. 17, multiple teams will be running pink paint schemes to recognize some drastically scarier Breast Cancer Awareness Month statistics, including:

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point during their life.
465,000 moms, wives and daughters will die of breast cancer in the U.S. this year alone.
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in the U.S. among women.
Among those taking a stand to help curb breast cancer is the No. 96 team and driver Bobby Labonte. To help recognize fans who have been affected by breast cancer, Ask.com is offering the opportunity to have a loved one's name incorporated into Labonte's pink Susan G. Komen tribute paint scheme by visiting Ask.com and making a free tribute to honor survivors, those living with breast cancer or in special memoriam of those lost to the disease.
The tributes will be featured on the car for the race at Lowe's Motor Speedway. This effort is part of a multi-faceted partnership program Ask.com has with Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The program includes a $1 million commitment to the organization.
