After the finish last year, neither Erik Darnell nor Johnny Benson is competing Saturday at Michigan.

Jack Roush probably likes the nose of his Ford trucks. He would contest it is better than the nose of a Toyota. Why? Because one of his Fords edged Johnny Benson's Toyota last year by the closest of margin of victory.

Erik Darnell beat Benson in the closest Truck Series race since computer scoring was installed when the series went north to Michigan International Speedway last year. But that's nothing new to the track.

Five of the nine Truck races held there were decided by less than a second:

1999 -- Greg Biffle beat Jay Sauter by 0.153 seconds.
2002 -- Robert Pressley beat Jason Leffler by 0.102 seconds.
2006 -- Johnny Benson beat Mark Martin by 0.116 seconds.
2007 -- Travis Kvapil beat Kyle Busch by 0.292 seconds.
2008 -- Erik Darnell beat Johnny Benson by 0.005 seconds.

Darnell isn't racing in the series this year, and Benson lost his ride with Red Horse Racing earlier in the week. But Roush still has a weapon in Colin Braun, who is searching for his first Truck Series victory. If he gets it, it will be a special one for Roush Fenway Racing.

49Victories for team owner Jack Roush in the Truck Series. His last victory was Erik Darnell's Michigan win a year ago.

"Fifty wins in the Truck Series would really be keeping in concert with what our goal is: to set a lot of standards, to set a lot of high marks for ourselves, and to enjoy the celebration of those milestones with Ford Motor Company. It would be great, since Ford has been such the leader in trucks on the public highways, to come back and get 50 in the Truck Series.
-- Jack Roush, Roush Fenway Racing owner
