It was July 6, 1996, and Terry Cook was starting 24th in a 34-truck grid. There were names like Robbie Reiser, Bob Keselowski, Bill Venturini and Jerry Glanville -- all of whom may be better known today through other careers or the successes of their children. Not Cook.

That day was Cook's first career start in the infant Truck Series. It was the second season for the trucks, and Cook's initiation into the series was the 10th race that year: the Sears Auto Center 200.

Cook finished 12th, one lap down in the No. 88 Chevrolet owned by Duke Thorson.

The track: The Milwaukee Mile.

Thirteen years later, Cook is back at Milwaukee's famous track for another milestone in his career. When he cranks the motor in James Harris' No. 25 Toyota for Friday's Copart 200 (8:30 p.m. ET, SPEED), it will be start No. 300 for the series veteran. He ranks second on the all-time list behind Rick Crawford's 306 starts.

"This is a huge milestone for me in my career. I've had some really great times in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and it has always been my favorite racing in NASCAR. But this is also my passion, my dream and my goal to be a race car driver since I was young. Three hundred starts has been a wonderful ride; I can't wait to see how it continues."
-- Terry Cook, No. 25 Toyota
