MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Sanitation worker Clifford Jones went to work as usual that Wednesday morning. Little did he know in a matter of hours he soon would become a hero. Jones' intuition saved a woman's life and he will be honored as this week's Incredible Hero for the Nationwide Series race at Nashville Superspeedway.

Jones was out on his Columbia, Tenn., route when he came upon Esther Sanford's house to pick up her trash. Sanford happened to be outside her house when she mentioned to Jones that she was not feeling well. His immediate response was to tell her to go get some rest but as he continued on his route his mind continued to worry about Sanford's well being.
Jones decided to stop back by Sanford's house and upon his arrival noticed that her front door was wide open. When he stepped inside he found Sanford unconscious on the floor inside her house. He immediately called 911 and conducted CPR until the ambulance arrived.
At the hospital, it was determined that Sanford had slipped into a diabetic coma and could have died if Jones had not found her.
Jones later was recognized by the Columbia City Council for his heroic act.
In addition, Jones and his wife will join CJM Racing at Nashville for Saturday's race. The two will enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the Nationwide Series from the garage and pit area. They also will spend some time with Scott Lagasse Jr., driver of the No. 11 America's Incredible Pizza Co. Toyota.
The Incredible Heroes campaign will run throughout the 2009 Nationwide season. If you know of an Incredible Hero and would like to nominate him or her please e-mail: heroes@incrediblepizza.com for consideration or click here
