JOLIET, Ill. -- Donna Musgrave won a $1 million Saturday night but the convenient store worker said she's still going to work on Monday.
Like a story plucked from a night in Las Vegas, the 60-year-old hailing from a small town in Colorado was the lucky winner of a fan contest where she correctly predicted the first and second place finishers of both the June race at Michigan International Speedway and subsequently July's Chicagoland Speedway race.
Title sponsor LifeLock, an identity theft protection company, held a contest for fans to submit their predictions and whoever picked correctly in Michigan was entered to win a trip to Chicagoland on Saturday night.
For Musgrave, winning the trip was reward enough.
She and her husband Richard Musgrave, a petroleum worker, agreed the $1 million prize was an unexpected bonus when Mark Martin and Jeff Gordon finished one-two for the second time this season.
"I don't have many words right now," Donna Musgrave said. "I've got so many butterflies in my stomach ... what a great contest. I told work I wasn't coming back if I won but I'll probably be there."
The Musgraves and a slew of LifeLock employees, including CEO Todd Davis, were brought into the media center after watching race winner Mark Martin celebrate in Victory Lane to comment on their experience.
How they planned to spend the money was top of mind.
"We are going to have to think about it," she said. "We are so used to working and we're not people that can sit still. Of course we have five kids and already have had six voice mails I haven't answered."
LifeLock's CEO was honored to grant the prize winnings to what he described as a very deserving family.
"We are going to have to have a meeting on Monday at the office," Todd Davis said. "We'll have to change the name of the company from LifeLock to life changers. I believe we just changed some people's lives tonight ... but when you see Donna and Richard -- they've worked so hard through the years.
"We tried to give them a good experience and got to know them well this weekend and were glad to share the experience with them in Victory Lane."
With 60 laps left in the race, Musgrave and her husband left their seats in the LifeLock suite and headed to Victory Lane to celebrate with the determined winner. At the time, it looked to be Jimmie Johnson with Jeff Gordon 14th.
The complexion of the race would soon change with about 20 to go.
"The last 18 [laps] we were together, tears started flowing from everyone at LifeLock," Davis said. "Being with them just made the sponsorship that more special."
Musgrave's husband said the couple, married for 40 years, was jumping up and down on the bleachers in Victory Lane upon realizing the inevitable outcome of the race.
After the excitement of meeting Mark Martin settled, he said the prize money won't change the couple's life much.
"It just might make things a little easier," he smiled. "Maybe I'll take an extra day off a week if Donna lets me."
