MIAMI -- International Speedway Corporation on Thursday named Matthew Becherer as president of Homestead-Miami Speedway, effective immediately. Becherer accepts the role from his most recent position of vice president of marketing for Richmond International Raceway. Current Homestead-Miami Speedway president Curtis Gray is leaving ISC to pursue other opportunities.
At Richmond since 2003, Becherer was integral to the growth of the widely-popular track into one of ISC's premier facilities. As vice president of marketing, he was responsible for overseeing all aspects of marketing, advertising, promotions, public relations and ticketing. Prior to Richmond, Becherer was the director of marketing for Darlington Raceway and marketing manager for North Carolina Speedway.
"We remain fortunate to have individuals of such excellent caliber to transition into key positions within our organization," said Joie Chitwood III, ISC vice president of business operations. "Matt has been a significant contributor to the success of Richmond International Raceway for more than six years, and we believe his leadership will facilitate a smooth transition into his new role at Homestead-Miami Speedway. We congratulate him on his new position and look forward to his continued success."
