Montoya continues to roll and remains one to watch (cont'd)
WHAT'S NEXT?
Fontana: 2:30 p.m. ET Sunday on ABC
Most wins: 3 -- Matt Kenseth, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson
Most top-fives: 9 -- Gordon
Most top-10s: 11 -- Kenseth
Best average finish: Johnson (6.2)
In the past 11 races at Fontana -- since 2004, when the Cup Series began making two trips annually to the track -- there have been eight winners (Kenseth has three wins; Johnson two).
However, it's been a two-team show: Hendrick cars have four wins, including victories for Gordon and Kyle Busch; Roush cars have five wins, including victories for Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards.
The two other winners: Elliott Sadler (September 2005) and Kasey Kahne (September 2006).
FONTANA, REVISITED
Feb. 22 -- Matt Kenseth had the world by the tail, coming off a victory in the Daytona 500 and looking for back-to-back wins for the first time since Races 23 and 24, at Michigan and Bristol in 2006.
Kenseth led a race-high 84 laps and crossed the stripe 1.463 seconds ahead of Jeff Gordon.
Six months later, Kenseth is 14th in points and out of the Chase for the first time since its inception in 2005.

NUMEROLOGY
7 -- Second-place finishes this season for Jeff Gordon, a career high, who was the runner-up at Kansas.
Gordon finished second six times in 1998 and again in 2001. He won the series championship in both of those years.
A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR
It's not every day that this pops into your inbox:
Jeremiah Weed Southern Style Sweet Tea Vodka to Sponsor No. 26 Ford Fusion Driven by NASCAR Driver Jamie McMurray at Charlotte
Yep, these are the same folks who earlier this year offered to become the official sponsor of air in the stock car tires.
Drink much of the sweet tea vodka, Mr. Weed?
And it's good to see the No.26 Ford Fusion won't be driven by masseuse Jamie McMurray ...
PERSONALLY SPEAKING
While everyone else is easing into the Halloween spirit, my house has been possessed for the past three weeks. My wife cannot get enough of the ghosts 'n' goblins time of year. From bandanas on the dogs to the petrified cat (really -- it's a family heirloom), there's more orange and black than in the Cincinnati Bengals locker room.
(To be clear: The petrified cat is an heirloom on Mandy's side of the family -- not mine. And had I known about it ... well, Peyton and Reily might have a different dad.)
In any case, I'm looking for suggestions on the most haunted places to take a weekend getaway. Mandy's birthday is coming up (Oct. 24) and I'd like to scare the pants off her! So, send me your suggestions and I'll let y'all know how it goes.
