Lap 152 -- The race is declared official (6:49 p.m. ET). Matt Kenseth is the Daytona 500 winner.

Lap 152 -- RED FLAG (6:33 p.m. ET): Cars have pulled onto pit road and stopped due to the rain. Two crewmen from each team are allowed to cover the cars. Drivers are out of their cars.

Lap 151 -- Jet dryers are on the track trying to keep heat on the racing surface during the rain.

Lap 149 -- Rain is falling on the speedway and the race remains under caution.

Lap 147 -- No drivers on the lead lap make a pit stop.

Lap 146 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 8: Aric Almirola goes spinning off the backstretch after contact from Kasey Kahne.

Lap 146 -- LEAD CHANGE: Matt Kenseth is the new leader, passing Elliott Sadler with a push from Kevin Harvick.

Lap 143 -- GREEN FLAG: Elliott Sadler leads the field to green with rain reportedly near the track.

Lap 141 -- Jeff Burton gets black-flagged for having a loose piece of sheet metal hanging from his bumper. He pits for repairs. Scott Riggs makes a late pit stop. Denny Hamlin and Jamie McMurray are both out of the garage.

Lap 140 -- Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. make pit stops. Earnhardt's crew checks for damage on the car.

Lap 139 -- Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin make pit stops for minor adjustments and fresh tires.

Lap 138 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 7: Paul Menard hits the wall hard coming off Turn 2. Jeff Burton got loose, slid up the track and slowed. Menard passed Burton, then went up the hill and got caught on Burton's nose. It turned Menard into the wall.

Lap 136 -- Matt Kenseth has ducked low to battle for second, leading the low lane of cars.

Lap 133 -- GREEN FLAG: Elliott Sadler gets the race back under way.

Lap 132 -- Some sprinkles have been noted around the race track. NASCAR is holding off on waving the green flag.

Lap 130 -- Carl Edwards has made pit stops to check for any damage he may have collected from the crash. Workers have finished cleanup.

Lap 124 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 6: Major crash on the backstretch involving several contenders. Dale Earnhardt Jr. had a run on Brian Vickers on the inside lane near the front of the pack, but Vickers blocked. Earnhardt's car caught Vickers' car, setting off a 10-car crash.

Lap 123 -- LEAD CHANGE: Bobby Labonte pits, giving the lead to Elliott Sadler.

Lap 122 -- LEAD CHANGE: Bobby Labonte stays out to lead. Elliott Sadler and Reed Sorenson, who pitted as the caution came out, also remain on track.

Lap 121 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. is held in his pit box one lap because his crew serviced the car while it was not inside its box. David Stremme is also held a lap for speeding on pit road to stay ahead of the pace car.

Lap 120 -- Leaders head down pit road:
• Carl Edwards gets an air-pressure change
• Dale Earnhardt Jr. is over the line in his pit box
• Mark Martin gets a wedge adjustment
• Kyle Busch gets four tires and fuel
• Denny Hamlin gets four fresh tires
• Jeff Gordon gets the free pass

Lap 119 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 5: David Stremme's right-rear tire explodes as he heads onto pit road. Debris is on the track. Reed Sorenson and Elliott Sadler were pitting when the caution came out.

Lap 117 -- Juan Montoya and Brian Vickers both pit. Montoya gets a chassis adjustment. Vickers is pleased with his car; no changes.

Lap 116 -- Sam Hornish Jr. is on pit road for tires and fuel. His car is bellowing steam out the hood's overflow.

Lap 115 -- Jimmie Johnson and Scott Speed make pit stops. Johnson goes past his pit box and the crew has to push him back before servicing the car.

Lap 113 -- Jeff Gordon heads to pit road to address his problematic tire. He gets four new tires and fuel.

Lap 112 -- Jeff Gordon reports to his crew the right-front tire is going away. His crew is preparing for a pit stop if necessary.

Lap 110 -- Reports say rain is between 20 and 40 minutes west of the track.

Lap 107 -- A.J. Allmendinger continues his strong run and is in sixth position.

Lap 103 -- Jimmie Johnson is mired in 22nd position battling a tight car.

Lap 101 -- The race is official and has reached the halfway mark. Kyle Busch is the leader.

Lap 98 -- Jeff Gordon and Carl Edwards are now running second after a dive to the bottom of the track to pass Denny Hamlin and A.J. Allmendinger.

Lap 96 -- Joe Gibbs Racing teammates continue to pace the field, but leader Kyle Busch and second-place Denny Hamlin are sandwiched around the lapped car of Ryan Newman.

Lap 93 -- Pole-sitter Martin Truex Jr. has fought a troubled car but is now back inside the top five.

Lap 90 -- It's 10 laps until halfway and the racing has heated up. Kyle Busch leads, but cars behind him continue to fan out.

Lap 89 -- A huge pack of three-wide cars trail leader Kyle Busch.

Lap 86 -- GREEN FLAG: Kyle Busch leads the field to green with bad weather reportedly about 40 minutes away from the track.

Lap 82 -- LEAD CHANGE: Kyle Busch wins the race off pit road.

Lap 81 -- Leaders head down pit road:
• Matt Kenseth has a push and gets big adjustments
• Jamie McMurray gets no changes and four tires
• Jeff Gordon gets no changes to his car
• Kyle Busch has no changes

Lap 80 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 4: Joey Logano spins coming off Turn 4 trying to avoid a loose Scott Speed and slams head-on into the inside wall. He appears OK but his car's nose is smashed.

Lap 76 -- The top seven cars are single-file, all following Jeff Gordon.

Lap 72 -- Ryan Newman is on pit road for new tires. The jack falls and the crew works to pick up the car to put on left-side tires. Long pit stop for Newman.

Lap 70 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jeff Gordon pulls ahead to take the lead from the top side with a huge push from Kyle Busch.

Lap 66 -- Two lanes are racing for the lead. Tony Stewart leads the bottom lane, with Jeff Gordon on top.

Lap 64 -- Jeff Gordon pulls to the outside, but he can't nose ahead of Tony Stewart for the lead.

Lap 59 -- GREEN FLAG: Tony Stewart leads the field to green.

Lap 58 -- LEAD CHANGE: Sam Hornish Jr. pits and gives the lead to Tony Stewart.

Lap 57 -- LEAD CHANGE: Sam Hornish Jr. stays out and leads. Dale Earnhardt Jr. comes back down pit road to make his stop.

Lap 56 -- Leaders head down pit road:
• Carl Edwards gets an air-pressure change
• Jeff Gordon has a vibration and gets tires
• Tony Stewart gets four tires and fuel
• Kyle Busch is tight but gets no adjustments
• Dale Earnhardt Jr. could not hit his pit stall

Lap 55 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 3: Travis Kvapil hits the wall and has major damage to his right side. Indications are he blew a tire.

Lap 54 -- LEAD CHANGE: Tony Stewart pulls out and passes Dale Earnhardt Jr. Kyle Busch follows in second.

Lap 53 -- LEAD CHANGE: After battling several laps, Dale Earnhardt Jr. finally gets by Kyle Busch. Tony Stewart comes with him in second.

Lap 50 -- Tony Stewart is running third after starting in the back of the grid.

Lap 46 -- Eight cars have now broken away single-file in the lead.

Lap 45 -- Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr. have a two-car tandem pulling away from the two-wide field.

Lap 43 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Matt Kenseth ride side-by-side, both chasing Kyle Busch for the lead.

Lap 39 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. pulls beside Kyle Busch, but Busch holds on to the lead.

Lap 37 -- Matt Kenseth moves into second place. He started the race in last after dropping to the rear of the grid.

Lap 36 -- Robby Gordon pits for a cut tire.

Lap 34 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. scoots to the high lane to create two-wide racing. He has help from teammate Jeff Gordon.

Lap 33 -- The top eight cars are single-file.

Lap 32 -- Jeremy Mayfield is on pit road with problems. The team goes under the hood due to a vibration.

Lap 30 -- GREEN FLAG: Kyle Busch leads the field to the line.

Lap 29 -- LEAD CHANGE: Greg Biffle makes his pit stop, giving the lead back to Kyle Busch. Joey Logano pits.

Lap 28 -- LEAD CHANGE: Greg Biffle stays out to lead a lap. Joey Logano stays out also.

Lap 27 -- The field heads down pit road:
• Carl Edwards gets an air-pressure adjustment for a tight car
• Dale Earnhardt Jr. takes four tires and fuel
• Mark Martin is tight and gets air-pressure and chassis changes
• Kyle Busch is first off with a fast stop; no changes
• Jamie McMurray has a lug nut fall off and loses nine spots
• Denny Hamlin also loses a lug nut on his stop

Lap 26 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 2: Competition caution for the field.

Lap 22 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. moves into second position as the competition caution approaches.

Lap 18 -- The field has broken into two packs due to Scott Riggs getting loose in the corner and cars behind him having to check up.

Lap 16 -- The top 10 cars have settled in single-file.

Lap 13 -- Carl Edwards is in fourth and leads an outside lane to chase down the leaders.

Lap 11 -- GREEN FLAG: Kyle Busch gets the race back under way.

Lap 10 -- A handful of cars hit pit road but cannot take fuel:

Lap 9 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 1: Aric Almirola spins going into Turn 3 after slowing and getting a bump by David Ragan.

Lap 5 -- Kevin Harvick is creating a middle lane and moves inside the top 20 after starting at the back of the field.

Lap 3 -- LEAD CHANGE: Give Kyle Busch the lead after he pulls his lane ahead. Still two-wide around the track.

Lap 2 -- LEAD CHANGE: Mark Martin pulls his low line ahead to lead. But a high line is coming with Kyle Busch ahead.

Lap 1 -- Martin Truex Jr. pulls ahead to lead the first lap, followed by Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin two-wide.

3:42 p.m. -- GREEN FLAG: Martin Truex Jr. and Mark Martin get the 51st annual Daytona 500 under way from Daytona International Speedway.

3:39 p.m. -- There will be a competition caution on Lap 25 due to the rain overnight in Daytona Beach and so teams can check tire wear. Teams cannot fuel the car until the Lap 25 caution.

3:33 p.m. -- Cars are rolling onto the track. The following drivers will drop to the back of the field to start the race: Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, Ryan Newman, John Andretti, Sam Hornish Jr. and Scott Speed

3:27 p.m. -- Charlie Crist, governor of Florida, delivers the command: "Gentlemen, start your engines!"

3:20 p.m. -- Gavin DeGraw sings the national anthem.

3:19 p.m. -- Dr. David Uth delivers the invocation.

2 p.m. ET -- Pre-race coverage of the Daytona 500 is on FOX.
