Lap 312 -- CHECKERED FLAG: Jimmie Johnson holds off Jeff Burton and wins the Checker O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. Jeff Burton finished second and Denny Hamlin earns the third spot.

Lap 311 -- WHITE FLAG: Jimmie Johnson runs hard through the turns, holds off Jeff Burton.

Lap 310 -- Kurt Busch to sixth.

Lap 308 -- With less than five to go, Jimmie Johnson is holding onto the lead. Jeff Burton is running strong in second, followed by Denny Hamlin.

Lap 304 -- David Reutimann moves into the top 10, passing Marcos Ambrose.

Lap 302 -- Ten laps to go. Johnson widens his lead over Jeff Burton by 1.8 seconds.

Lap 300 -- Kurt Busch reports no turn in the car as changes on pit road haven't helped. He is currently running in seventh.

Lap 296 -- Jeff Burton holds strong in second as Martin Truex Jr. moves up to fifth. Gordon passes Ambrose for ninth.

Lap 294 -- Marcos Ambrose holds off Jeff Gordon for the ninth spot.

Lap 292 -- Denny Hamlin and Mark Martin are fighting for third. Hamlin has the edge and moves ahead.

Lap 289 -- Jeff Burton moves into second, 1.8 seconds behind the leader.

Lap 287 -- Tony Stewart goes two laps down.

Lap 285 -- Jimmie Johnson has now led 211 laps and increased his points lead over Mark Martin by more than 100.

Lap 283 -- Sixteen cars are now on the lead lap with Carl Edwards being the last one.

Lap 281 -- Ryan Newman goes a lap down.

Lap 279 -- Jeff Burton is making a charge for second, closing the gap on Denny Hamlin, who is almost on the bumper of leader Jimmie Johnson.

Lap 277 -- A 15 degree difference separates the shade from the sun on the track as more drivers report their cars getting loose.

Lap 275 -- Marcos Ambrose to ninth.

Lap 274 -- Denny Hamlin closes the gap on Jimmie Johnson who leads by less than a second.

Lap 270 -- Ryan Newman is the last car on the lead lap. Turns one and two are in the shade as the sun has set.

Lap 266 -- Juan Montoya has made it back to eighth and Kurt Busch has dropped to seventh.

Lap 262 -- Sam Hornish Jr. goes a lap down. Seventeen cars are on the lead lap.

Lap 261 -- Denny Hamlin loses a second on leader Jimmie Johnson.

Lap 257 -- Jeff Burton moves to third, Martin in fourth. Jeff Gordon drops to tenth.

Lap 255 -- Jimmie Johnson has led four times for 181 laps up to this point. Denny Hamlin continues to chase from second.

Lap 252 -- Mark Martin drops to fourth. Officials search for debris in Turn 3, below the yellow line.

Lap 251 -- Officials report smoke coming from Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s car.

Lap 249 -- Denny Hamlin called for a strong pit stop and was able to close in on Jimmie Johnson, who leads by less than a second.

Lap 247 -- Matt Kenseth heads to pit road, Jimmie Johnson reclaims the lead, followed by Denny Hamlin and Jeff Burton in third.

Lap 244 -- Jimmie Johnson gets off of pit road and is in second behind Matt Kenseth. Denny Hamlin is running in third.

Lap 243 -- Matt Kenseth is the new leader.

Lap 242 -- Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin are on pit road. Johnson gets air pressure adjustment. Brad Keselowski is back in the race.

Lap 241 -- Clint Bowyer says he has no grip, gets four new tires. Mark Martin gets four tires and fuel.

Lap 240 -- Drivers are starting to pit. Kevin Harvick is first, followed by Juan Montoya.

Lap 237 -- Jeff Burton moves to fourth.

Lap 235 -- Mark Martin moves into third.

Lap 234 -- Casey Mears goes a lap down.

Lap 233 -- Jimmie Johnson moves 5.3 seconds ahead of Denny Hamlin. Kurt Busch has dropped to fourth.

Lap 230 -- Drivers are preparing to make their final trips to pit road. Matt Kenseth goes a lap down. Jamie McMurray is the last car of 20 on the lead lap.

Lap 228 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. is coming back into the race.

Lap 226 -- Crew chiefs are anticipating adjustments as the track cools and the sun sets at Phoenix. Johnson clinches bonus points for leading most laps.

Lap 223 -- Matt Kenseth will be next to go a leap down as Jimmie Johnson inches closer. Jimmie Johnson has led 155 laps.

Lap 222 -- Jimmie Johnson continues to widen his lead over Kurt Busch, who is running almost five seconds behind.

Lap 220 -- Tony Stewart goes a lap down. Mark Martin moves to fourth.

Lap 219 -- Denny Hamlin moves into third.

Lap 217 -- Kevin Harvick calls his car junk, with no adjustments making it better on the track to this point.

Lap 215 -- Clint Boyer settling into third as Jimmie Johnson widens his lead to 4.3 seconds over Kurt Busch.

Lap 213 -- Denny Hamlin's crew is eating pizza, gearing up for the final pit stop of the day.

Lap 208 -- A.J. Allmendinger moves up to 11th. Martin moves to fifth, passing Jeff Burton.

Lap 203 -- Jimmie Johnson maintains a 3.4 second lead. He has led three times for 134 laps.

Lap 202 -- Tony Stewart is close to going a leap down.

Lap 201 -- Juan Montoya moves up to eighth.

Lap 200 -- Carl Edwards up to 18th.

Lap 198 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. and crew are searching for the source of their oil leak in the garage.

Lap 196 -- Jimmie Johnson opens up a three second lead over Kurt Busch.

Lap 193 -- There have been four cautions, three leaders and seven lead changes up to this point. Mark Martin thanks his crew for giving the car good balance but complains there is no where to go on the track.

Lap 191 -- Mark Martin to sixth, Jeff Gordon moves to ninth.

Lap 189 -- Twenty-three cars are on the lead lap with Tony Stewart bringing up the rear.

Lap 186 -- Jimmie Johnson increases his lead to 2.3 seconds over Kurt Busch. Clint Boyer has settled into third, followed by Jeff Burton.

Lap 184 -- Kyle Busch and Juan Montoya battle for seventh.

Lap 182 -- Jeff Gordon drops to tenth. Brian Vickers and Bobby Labonte are out of the race.

Lap 179 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. heads to the garage. Officials are looking at Kyle Busch for smoke coming out of the car.

Lap 172 -- Tony Stewart reports his steering wheel has moves a few inches after getting sideways.

Lap 169 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 4: Eight cars are stacked up on the back straightaway. Tony Stewart has damage, Bobby Labonte with heavy damage. Wreck appears to have been caused by Dale Earnhardt Jr. with a loose car on the restart.

Lap 167 -- GREEN FLAG: Jimmie Johnson leads the field to green. Robby Gordon gets the free pass.

Lap 164 -- Mark Martin loses a position as Jimmie Johnson wins the race off of pit road. Officials report they can't find the debris in Turn 1.

Lap 163 -- Jimmie Johnson heads to pit road, followed by Kurt Busch and Mark Martin. Martin gets new tires. Johnson gets a wedge adjustment, Busch says his car is loose.

Lap 162 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 3 -- Debris in Turn 1.

Lap 159 -- Denny Hamlin drops 3.4 seconds behind the leader. Kurt Busch is on his bumper.

Lap 156 -- David Gilliland goes three laps down. Mark Martin reports his car has gotten better after a wedge adjustment on pit road, but then the car got loose. Officials report debris in Turn 1.

Lap 150 -- Phoenix has had two cautions, three leaders and seven lead changes to this point. Jimmie Johnson increases his lead over Denny Hamlin by 2.7 seconds.

Lap 148 -- Martin Truex Jr., who started on the pole, is currently in seventh. Tony Stewart says his car is too inconsistent and no adjustment seems to work.

Lap 145 -- Robby Gordon is the last driver on the lead lap, 20 seconds behind the leader.

Lap 143 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. maintains a pace in 16th unable to pass on the high side.

Lap 141 -- Kurt Busch up to fourth. Juan Montoya moves to ninth.

Lap 139 -- Jimmie Johnson now has a 103 point lead over Mark Martin in the Chase.

Lap 138 -- Denny Hamlin drops more than two seconds behind Johnson. Mark Martin settles into third.

Lap 136 -- Brad Keselowski is a lap down with 25 drivers on the lead lap.

Lap 134 -- Jimmie Johnson widens his lead by 1.5 seconds. Clint Bowyer moves up to fifth.

Lap 131 -- Kyle Busch tells crew his tires are only good for 15 laps. Hamlin reports a leak coming from Jimmie Johnson.

Lap 130 -- Denny Hamlin moves up to second, Mark Martin drops to third.

Lap 129 -- Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon connect in the corner. Gordon is able to save the car.

Lap 128 -- Jeff Gordon struggles on restart, drops to sixth.

Lap 120 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 2: Michael Waltrip sustains major damage on the restart. Brad Keselowski is hit from behind. David Ragan is spun around. Robby Gordon heads to pit road for repairs. Carl Edwards gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 114 -- The top four in points are running in the top four position. Johnson is one, Busch is two.

Lap 113 -- A caution free race so far as Jimmie Johnson widens his lead by a second.

Lap 107 -- Martin Truex Jr. moves to sixth after starting on the pole. Carl Edwards goes one lap down.

Lap 106 -- Juan Montoya moves to ninth.

Lap 102 -- Mark Martin settles into third, picks up a spot after leaving pit road. Jeff Gordon moves to fourth.

Lap 99 -- Joey Logano goes a lap down, makes it difficult for Jimmie Johnson to pass.

Lap 98 -- Kurt Busch is on the bumper of Jimmie Johnson, who manages to hold him off through the turn.

Lap 7 -- Mark Martin passes Tony Stewart and is running back in 10th.

Lap 6 -- Juan Montoya is off to an aggressive start, up to 16th.

Lap 4 -- Sam Hornish Jr. makes a move around Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon. He is currently up to the seventh spot.

Lap 2 -- Kurt Busch maintain his lead behind Truex Jr. Mark Martin loses a position and Jimmie Johnson is in third.

Lap 1 -- Kurt Busch passes Truex Jr. on the high side and takes the lead early.

3:33 p.m. -- GREEN FLAG: Martin Truex Jr. brings the field to green and the Checker O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 is underway.

3:29 p.m. -- The cars are rolling off pit road for warm-up laps.

3:24 p.m. -- Senator John McCain is the grand marshall in Phoenix and gives the command: "Gentlemen, start your engines!"

3:17 p.m. -- Tyrese Gibson performs the national anthem.

3:15 p.m. -- Phoenix International Raceway chaplain Ken Bowers gives the Invocation.

2:30 p.m. -- NASCAR Countdown is under way on ABC.

2:20 p.m. ET -- Sunny skies are greeting fans on Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway as we head toward the start of the Checker O'Reilly Auto Parts 500. Green flag is set for 3:30 p.m. ET with Martin Truex Jr. on the pole.
