DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Dave Rodman's tweets from Fan Fest in Daytona:
FRIDAY
Economy be damned, surprisingly good media turnout at Fan Fest. Dale Earnhardt Jr. first in; 14 legitimate writers, Web/paper; six video cams.
Michael Annett has a future in NASCAR. "I'd rather be in the cars than answering a bunch of questions" was his opening statement.
Ryan Newman: "People" will be the difference in continuing the great 2009 start his first-year Stewart-Haas team had.
Matt Kenseth on dropping team: "At this point with adding the engineering staff for the Richard Petty Motorsports cars we don't seem any smaller."
More Kenseth on Roush Fenway Racing dropping its fifth team: "I'll miss having Jamie [McMurray] around, both as a teammate and a friend."
A.J. Allmendinger on driving No. 43 for Richard Petty Motorsports: "Driving for the King is something I cherish and respect."
More Allmendinger: "I know the 43 history, hope I can make him proud and would remember putting the 43 in Victory Lane for the King forever."
Mark Martin: "We were spectacular last year. I'm better than this time last year, whole team is. Just don't know how much better the competition is."
Paul Menard on RPM/Yates merger: "We're still in Statesville [N.C.] but I spent five hours in Concord; things getting done, no egos involved."
Jeff Gordon on NASCAR: "They've done a great job of visualizing a dream and executing it sometimes at great risk, like building this facility."
Gordon on wing to spoiler: "I don't expect any big revelations -- I might be wrong. We might already have a car in the wind tunnel."
Gordon on Jimmie Johnson's coming fatherhood: "The only change, it's an amazing part of your life. You want to experience it to the fullest."
Gordon says biggest problem with being a parent is sleep deprivation, which he's still trying to figure out.
Will be interesting to match two days of Fan Fest crowd impact: Day vs. night and [four drivers with] six Daytona 500 wins Friday vs. one [Kevin Harvick] on Saturday.
SATURDAY
Fan Fest side benefit: Florida buddy, Dwight_Drum, aka Racetake, brought a pile of homegrown citrus last night. Thanks Dwight, it made breakfast.

Scott Speed on the offseason: "I didn't go hunting, I can tell you that."
Clint Bowyer: "No more excuses. Even being a first-year team, we just struggled. We chased our tail as a group. There's a positive vibe at shop."
Bowyer: "I think three cars will be better for our [Richard Childress Racing] organization."
Bowyer on spoiler "They've made several changes to this car but not a big change. This is a big change and I think it's going to be positive."
Kevin Conway says his No. 37 Front Row Motorsports team is locked into the first five races. Whose points?
Conway: As of right now I have the No. 34's points and Travis Kvapil will have to qualify on speed. As of today, that is.
Sam Hornish Jr.: "We need to even out our consistency. We play a game of millimeters sometimes but we can't have a good finish, then 35th.
Brad Keselowski on sticking in the 12: "Everyone has to drink the Kool-Aid and understand it takes a team to win -- not just a driver."
Keselowski: "I'm for whatever [changes] make the fans happy. Give that a big check mark."
Keselowski on Jay Guy: "Tape-measure crew chief. Tape in pocket, isn't afraid to climb under car, measure, say what's up?
Fan Fest was full warm-up experience, including jet dryers to get Petty Experience on track five hours late. Crowds about the same each day.
