Marcos Ambrose's NASCAR success has had quite an impact in his native Australia, where he has become the go-to guy for other Aussies looking to break into NASCAR's top series. Ambrose, who has been working with fellow Australians Andrew Hagen and George Miedecke, offers five tips for any of his countrymen who aspire to drive in a NASCAR series.

1. Focus on the job. You've got to be hungrier, meaner, nastier and more dedicated than the next guy. Otherwise, you're not going to make it.

2. Network. You've got to get a network of guys around you who can help you get to the next level, whether it be befriending existing drivers, team owners, sponsors that are willing to help you out with the finances -- whatever it may be.

3. Do your homework. When you get your opportunity, you've got to be ready for it. You've got to really study the form guides, study old races, get to know the race tracks.

4. Make the most of your talent. You've got to nurture it. You've got to work on your technique. You've got to work on your style and find your own way of getting about it.

5. Be smart. You've got to fight your own battles. There are a lot of ways to get frustrated in racing, and you can do the wrong thing or do the right thing pretty easily. If you do the wrong thing, it can be seen by somebody, and it can hurt your career in ways you never, ever know.
