Dillon seeks crew's guidance, help to make right decisions at Talladega

Talladega is kind of like the big question mark for my team. It's a place we're looking to get through with a solid finish. We just need to make it out of there. At most tracks we go to the goal is to win but here, a top-10 would be great. We're bringing a truck that can win the race, but, ultimately, with my lack of experience it's going to be a tough race for us.

I'm really going to be leaning on Andy Houston and my family to give me pointers and help me make decisions during the race. When it comes down to it, though, it's up to me to make the right decisions. Our goal is to make smart decisions and to make sure we're there at the end of the race to go after them.

If we can get through this week at Talladega, I feel like we can use the last three races to be really strong and gain some of the points back that we lost at Martinsville. We got out of Martinsville 16th, which is not too bad, but I would have liked it to be a little bit better. I need to minimize the damage at Talladega and then go into the next three weeks and really go after them. Those are places we need to finish in the top five at. Definitely at Phoenix and Texas I know we can do that. Since I have never been to Homestead, I don't really know what to expect but our mile-and-a-half program has been really solid this year so I am really excited about it.

Even though I'm already looking ahead to Texas, Phoenix and Homestead, I'm still excited for Talladega. It should be fun. The track has a lot of cool fans and the No. 3 has a lot of history. I get to go to the Bass Pro Shops in Leeds, Alabama and meet some race fans there on Thursday night (6:30 p.m. ET), and there is an autograph session at the track on Friday, so I'm looking forward to interacting with the race fans. We're in the mix for NASCAR's Most Popular driver competition, so I enjoy meeting the fans and autograph sessions are a way to thank them for their votes. I'm going to Talladega with a good group of guys, including friends and my crew. My crew has built an amazing truck. It's a brand new truck for this race and I really just want to go there, have fun and put on a good show for the fans at Talladega.
