Homestead-Miami Speedway is running a promotion for its upcoming race next month centered upon Juan Montoya. Makes sense, south Florida is the driver's home.
But to follow the path of ports Montoya has actually called home, or at least resided, since his high school years takes you way beyond the U.S. border. The list of places here and abroad is as diverse as Montoya's racing career. He's lived on three different continents and countless cities and boroughs.

"You want the whole list," asks Montoya, who was born in Bogotá, Colombia, to parents Libia and Pablo. South America is point A on the map of Montoya.
Montoya lived in Bogotá, the capital and largest city of Colombia and also considered to be the "Athens of South America" until his last year of high school.
He then moved to the states to race in the Barber Saab Pro Series.
"After that I lived in England. In England I lived in Milton Keynes; I lived in Peterborough for three years," Montoya said.
Milton Keynes is home to Woodhill Prison, an Alcatraz-style prison designed to house Britain's most dangerous and violent offenders. Peterborough was home to Sir Henry Royce, one of the founders of Rolls Royce.
Formula One racing took him east to Austria.
"For a year I lived in a place called Graz," Montoya said.
The capital of culinary delights, Graz won awards for being one of the best-preserved European cities.
"Then from there at the end of the year I spent a couple of months in London. Then the year after that I lived in Cambridge," Montoya said. "Then I lived in Orlando, Fla., then a year in Miami. Then I moved to Monaco and I had a place in Spain. I had a place in England and I came back to the States and now I have a place in Colombia."
Still following? Maybe, maybe not. But the bottom line is that this well-traveled European-influenced husband and father of three chose the United States to call home.
"I picked Miami," Montoya laughed.
OK, so Miami might be more reflective of South American and European cities than other cities in the United States. But still, Montoya lives in south Florida after living in some of the world's most incredible places.
"Miami has a very Latin atmosphere and still has all the benefits of the U.S. like convenience. Also, Connie [Montoya's wife] has a lot of friends there, I have a lot of friends there and my family lives there. Last, Bogotá is only a three-hour flight."
Now in the NASCAR family since the end of 2006, Montoya is as happy as he's ever been.
"It's been great, it's been an amazing experience," he said. "I think it's not only been great for myself but the whole family."
