Lap 230 -- Jimmie Johnson has a strong lap and continues to lead the field, just behind Kevin Harvick. Denny Hamlin pitted after the wave around, earning a black flag.

Lap 227 -- Jimmie Johnson leads the field off of pit road, ahead of Jeff Burton and Kevin Harvick.

Lap 226 -- Drivers head to pit road. Kevin Harvick asks for more grip, Jamie McMurray pits, gets four tires. Most drivers should be able to make it to the end of the race. Harvick struggles again to get off of pit road, spinning his tires.

Lap 225 -- Kasey Kahne is back on the track, 29 laps down.

Lap 224 -- Jamie McMurray has moved back up to fifth position as the wind begins to pick up at Auto Club Speedway.

Lap 223 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 6: Brad Keselowski is into the wall in Turn 4. He was running 13th at the time wrecked.

Lap 221 -- Jeff Gordon is on pit road after more engine trouble. Sam Hornish makes a scheduled stop.

Lap 220 -- More rain appears to be moving into the area, but for now, cars will race under green.

Lap 218 -- Jeff Burton now leads Kevin Harvick by more than two seconds.

Lap 216 -- Jeff Burton continues to run strong in the lead position, followed by Mark Martin in second, Kevin Harvick in third and Jimmie Johnson in fourth.

Lap 213 -- Jeff Burton opens up a one second lead over Mark Martin. Jimmie Johnson moves up to fourth.

Lap 212 -- Kevin Harvick has moved up to third behind Mark Martin in second.

Lap 210 -- Clint Bowyer heads to pit road as the car begins to overheat.

Lap 209 -- Mark Martin passes Clint Bowyer for second. Jeff Burton continues to lead the field. Jamie McMurray has fought his way back to ninth.

Lap 207 -- The sun is back out on the track, despite ominous clouds just west of Auto Club Speedway.

Lap 206 -- Scott Speed has dropped back to 16th after his pit stop.

Lap 205 -- Jimmie Johnson almost loses it in Turn 4 but is able to save it running close to Kevin Harvick.

Lap 203 -- Clint Bowyer passes Kyle Busch for second. Jeff Burton continues to lead.

Lap 202 -- Kevin Harvick passes Jimmie Johnson for fifth.

Lap 201 -- Jeff Burton and Kyle Busch break away from the field. Denny Hamlin heads to pit road with a flat tire as the field continues to race under green.

Lap 198 -- Scott Speed is headed to pit road, almost out of fuel.

Lap 197 -- Scott Speed reports he is losing fuel pressure and tries to drive on the flat part of the track to conserve fuel and bring the pressure back up.

Lap 196 -- Leader Scott Speed is now worried about running out of gas.

Lap 195 -- Drivers are being asked to stagger their positions to keep the track clean.

Lap 194 -- Drivers take it easy around the track as rain continues to fall.

Lap 193 -- Radar is showing light rain over the track, but more rain is moving its way in. Denny Hamlin has come to pit road in need of fuel. Scott Speed becomes the new leader.

Lap 192 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 5: Rain has moved its way into Fontana and onto the track. Brad Keselowski will get the free pass.

Lap 190 -- Denny Hamlin leads the field, followed by Scott Speed and Ragan Smith.

Lap 188 -- Brian Vickers leads the field and surrenders the lead to Denny Hamlin after heading to pit road for fuel and tires.

Lap 186 -- Rain is moving into the area at Auto Club Speedway as drivers debate when to pit in anticipation of a weather delay.

Lap 185 -- Kevin Harvick gets four new tires and an air pressure adjustment. Tony Stewart gets a full tank of fuel and reports the car is getting better as the race progresses.

Lap 184 -- Sam Hornish is back on pit road, serving a penalty for entering too fast.

Lap 182 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. reports a possible broken axle on pit road.

Lap 181 -- Jimmie Johnson tried to make it to lap 183 before heading to pit road but couldn't after his car became too tight. Johnson gets tires and an air pressure change.

Lap 180 -- Sam Hornish heads to pit road, gets four new tires and fuel.

Lap 179 -- Jeff Burton has opened up a 2.5 second lead over Kyle Busch.

Lap 178 -- Jeff Gordon now reports the engine is running fine, called an audible in the pits and is getting four new tires.

Lap 177 -- Denny Hamlin started the race in 43rd position and is now running in 12th.

Lap 176 -- Tony Stewart is running in sixth position and continues to advance.

Lap 173 -- Jeff Gordon reports an engine problem and asks the pit crew to raise the hood when he makes his pit stop.

Lap 172 -- Jeff Burton continues to lead the field, followed by Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon.

Lap 170 -- Sam Hornish has dropped back to 11th place and Dale Earnhardt Jr. has moved down to 23rd.

Lap 141 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 3: Juan Montoya is into the wall in Turn 1 bringing out the third caution of the day. Most cars head to pit road.

Lap 138 -- Jeff Burton moves up to sixth position.

Lap 136 -- Jeff Gordon moves up to seventh. Mark Martin is starting to make a move on leader Jimmie Johnson.

Lap 135 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. is penalized for exiting too fast off of pit road.

Lap 133 -- Greg Biffle is on pit road getting tape pulled off the front of the car. Carl Edwards gets a track bar adjustment. Juan Montoya gets an air pressure change and the front grill cleaned off. Jimmie Johnson decides to pit as well, reports the car is tight and gets adjustments.

Lap 131 -- Jimmie Johnson has led the most laps of the day. Jamie McMurray hasn't led a lap today as he inches his way up through the field.

Lap 123 -- Matt Kenseth reports something may be blocking his radiator according to a rising water temperature gauge.

Lap 119 -- Jimmie Johnson adds to his lead and is pursued by Mark Martin and Greg Biffle in second and third positions.

Lap 117 -- Elliott Sadler moves a lap down.

Lap 116 -- Brian Vickers up to fourth position after starting in 23rd.

Lap 114 -- Kasey Kahne has just been lapped by Jimmie Johnson.

Lap 113 -- Jimmie Johnson increases his lead to more than two seconds over the field..

Lap 112 -- Brian Vickers started 23rd and is currently running in fifth. He reports over the radio that the car is loose but he thinks he has a car he can work with.

Lap 111 -- Thirty cars are still on the lead lap. Tony Stewart started in 16th and is now in seventh position. Juan Montoya drops to 18th after starting second.

Lap 109 -- The Auto Club 500 has now had two caution, six leaders and 13 lead changes.

Lap 106 -- Jimmie Johnson opens up a one second lead over the field, followed by teammate Mark Martin, in second.

Lap 104 -- Joey Logano runs to tenth position after starting in 19th.

Lap 103 -- Kevin Harvick has dropped all the way back to 21st position.

Lap 101 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. continues to slowly move up the field and is currently in 17th position.

Lap 100 -- Jimmie Johnson reclaims the lead from Mark Martin.

Lap 99 -- Matt Kenseth moves all the way to third place, behind Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin.

Lap 98 -- Mark Martin passes Jimmie Johnson, becoming the sixth leader of the day.

Lap 95 -- Marcos Ambrose gets the free pass. Jamie McMurray is penalized for losing control of tire on pit road.

Lap 93 -- Several drivers head to pit road. Jimmie Johnson calls the car sketchy, gets four new tires, Clint Bowyer gets an air pressure adjustment. Kevin Harvick gets a wedge adjustment and stalls out leaving pit road, losing a spot.

Lap 92 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 2: Kasey Kahne gets under Juan Montoya and spins through the grass. There is significant damage to the right front fender as Kahne pits, still on the lead lap.

Lap 90 -- Denny Hamlin has gained 24 positions since the race began, moving up to 19th.

Lap 88 -- Brian Vickers moves up to fifth position followed by Jeff Gordon in sixth.

Lap 87 -- Kevin Harvick continues to trade the lead with Jimmie Johnson as Dale Earnhardt Jr.. moves up a couple of spots to 22nd.

Lap 85 -- Jeff Gordon does battle with Juan Montoya for sixth position.

Lap 84 -- Jimmie Johnson edges past Kevin Harvick in Turn 2 for the lead.

Lap 83 -- Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick battle side-by-side for the lead.

Lap 82 -- Kyle Busch reports that the fin on the left side of the car may be coming loose.

Lap 80 -- Jimmie Johnson catches Kevin Harvick for the ninth lead change of the day.

Lap 79 -- Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin, Clint Bowyer and Juan Montoya continue to race their Chevrolets in the top five positions.

Lap 76 -- Kevin Harvick maintains the lead over the field, one second ahead of Jimmie Johnson, running on the high side of the track.

Lap 66 -- Mark Martin is running strong in third position and is closing the gap on Jimmie Johnson.

Lap 6 -- Juan Montoya led more than 60 laps at Auto Club in October and continues to lead the field today.

Lap 5 -- Pole winner Jamie McMurray drops back four positions to fifth, 2.40 seconds off the lead.

Lap 3 -- Juan Montoya continues to lead the field, Kyle Busch and Mark Martin do battle in the fifth and sixth positions.

Lap 2 -- Jimmie Johnson splits the middle and drops to fifth position.

Lap 1 -- Juan Montoya gets off to a great start and leads the first lap.

3:19 p.m. -- GREEN FLAG: Jamie McMurray brings the field to the green and the Auto Club 500 is under way.

3:14 p.m. -- Denny Hamlin will have to start from the rear after an engine change.

3:13 p.m. -- The cars are off pit road and taking their warm-up laps.

3:08 p.m. -- Actor Andy Garcia gives the command: "Gentlemen, start your engines!"

3:01 p.m. -- Katharine McPhee, Season Five American Idol runner-up, performs the national anthem.

3 p.m. -- Motor Racing Outreach's Jeff Hamilton gives today's invocation.

2 p.m. -- Pre-race coverage of the Auto Club 500 is under way on FOX.

1:30 p.m. ET -- Drivers and spectators woke up in Fontana on Sunday to cloudy skies and a temperature of 53 degrees. Temperatures are expected to hold steady during the race and with less than a 30 percent chance of rain, weather shouldn't be a huge factor in Sunday's Auto Club 500. Green is scheduled for 3:16 p.m. with Jamie McMurray on the pole.
