Lap 400 -- CHECKERED FLAG: Kurt Busch had a strong car throughout, and he was in front when it mattered. Busch held off Jamie McMurray to win the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday.

Lap 399 -- WHITE FLAG: Kurt Busch leads the field.

Lap 395 -- Kurt Busch leads, holding off Jamie McMurray.

Lap 393 -- Jamie McMurray is closing the gap on Kurt Busch, waiting to make his move.

Lap 391 -- Mark Martin moves up to fourth.

Lap 390 -- Kyle Busch moves into third. Jamie McMurray is digging for the lead, racing in second.

Lap 388 -- Kevin Harvick finds the top 10.

Lap 386 -- Mark Martin holds his place in the top five. Kevin Harvick is back in play, running in 12th and fighting off Joey Logano on the inside.

Lap 385 -- The leaders have a clear track in front of them, making lapped traffic a non-issue at this point.

Lap 383 -- Kyle Busch clears Mark Martin and Jeff Gordon to claim third position.

Lap 381 -- GREEN FLAG: Jeff Gordon gets off to a good jump but Kurt Busch charges ahead.

Lap 380 -- Ryan Newman finds the fourth position after choosing track position over making a pit stop.

Lap 378 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jeff Gordon stays out and takes the lead. Mark Martin moves into second.

Lap 376 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 8: Marcos Ambrose loses control in Turn 2, lifting all four tires off the ground. Several drivers pit. Jamie McMurray gets some fuel. Matt Kenseth gets right-side tires only. Kurt Busch gets two tires. Kyle Busch gets two tires and has issues on pit road, again. Brad Keselowski is flagged for entering pit road too fast.

Lap 375 -- David Reutimann has been consistent, running strong in fifth. Kyle Busch is closing from sixth.

Lap 370 -- Jamie McMurray continues to run strong and increases his lead over Kurt Busch, currently running in second.

Lap 367 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. falls out of the top 20. He needs a caution to be competitive as the race nears its end.

Lap 366 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jamie McMurray finds the front after Dale Earnhardt Jr. pits.

Lap 365 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. will have to pit for fuel and four tires.

Lap 362 -- Casey Mears heads to pit road. Tony Stewart's crewman, Kevin McDowell was injured during the pit stop and is being taken on a golf cart to the infield care center.

Lap 361 -- Scott Speed is flagged for entering pit road too fast.

Lap 360 -- Kurt Busch moves back into third.

Lap 357 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the only driver not to pit under green. Jamie McMurray is off of pit road and into second. Kasey Kahne has fresh tires.

Lap 355 -- LEAD CHANGE: Dale Earnhardt Jr. stays off of pit road and takes the lead.

Lap 353 -- LEAD CHANGE: Tony Stewart takes the lead. Clint Bowyer pits, gets four tires.

Lap 352 -- LEAD CHANGE: David Reutimann takes the lead as Jamie McMurray pits. Kurt Busch pits, gets a wedge adjustment. Kyle Busch gets a chassis adjustment.

Lap 347 -- With 26 lead changes, 13 race leaders and seven cautions, the Coca-Cola 600 approaches the final 50 laps of the race at Charlotte. Jamie McMurray is making his way through lapped traffic and widening his lead over the field.

Lap 343 -- Jamie McMurray puts Greg Biffle another lap down and continues to drive away with the lead.

Lap 339 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jamie McMurray finds the front, passing Kurt Busch coming out of Turn 4.

Lap 337 -- Jeff Burton holds his position in third, followed by Matt Kenseth in fourth.

Lap 333 -- Five-hundred miles have been completed at Charlotte. Kurt Busch continues to lead.

Lap 332 -- Joey Logano is trying to hold off Paul Menard to stay in the top 10.

Lap 331 -- David Reutimann finds the top five again, passing Kyle Busch.

Lap 329 -- David Reutimann drops out of the top five with a tight car.

Lap 328 -- Jeff Burton passes Matt Kenseth for third.

Lap 326 -- Jamie McMurray is closing on leader Kurt Busch. A.J. Allmendinger continues to race inside the top 15. Matt Kenseth is overheating as trash sticks to his grill.

Lap 323 -- Tony Stewart moves into ninth. Jeff Gordon holds his spot in eighth.

Lap 319 -- Kurt Busch peaks at 191 mph during his most recent lap as leader.

Lap 318 -- Jamie McMurray clears Matt Kenseth to take back second place.

Lap 315 -- Three of the five, top-five drivers have just driven their fastest laps of the race. Twenty-seven cars are on the lead lap. The most cars ever to finish the Coke 600 on the lead lap is 20.

Lap 314 -- Matt Kenseth rides the high line for second place, putting Jamie McMurray back into third. Kyle Busch moves into fourth.

Lap 313 -- GREEN FLAG: Kurt Busch races on the outside, holding off Jamie McMurray on the restart.

Lap 312 -- Kurt Busch has led more than 200 laps this evening.

Lap 311 -- Todd Parrott, crew chief for Matt Kenseth, thinks they made the wrong call taking four tires earlier in the race, citing track position as the key to winning.

Lap 310 -- Jamie McMurray maintains his spot in second, followed by David Reutimann in third.

Lap 309 -- Greg Biffle has hit the wall twice this evening. No one in the top 10 comes to pit road under the seventh caution of the race.

Lap 308 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 7: Greg Biffle is into the wall. Kevin Harvick took the wave around on the last caution and will be able to pit on the lead lap, getting new set of tires.

Lap 307 -- Jimmie Johnson has made it back on the track, appearing to have replaced the entire front end on the No. 48.

Lap 306 -- GREEN FLAG: Kurt Busch leads the field to green, racing Jamie McMurray hard on the restart. Busch beat McMurray out of Turn 3 and saves the lead.

Lap 305 -- Kevin Manion, crew chief for Jamie McMurray, says track position will be key to winning the race.

Lap 304 -- LEAD CHANGE: Kurt Busch takes the lead as Brad Keselowski pits. Marcos Ambrose gets the free pass.

Lap 303 -- Kyle Busch has made his way back up to seventh.

Lap 302 -- LEAD CHANGE: Brad Keselowski stays out and takes the lead. Kurt Busch beats Jamie McMurray off of pit road and sits in second.

Lap 300 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 6: The yellow is thrown for Robby Gordon after he hit the wall. Pit road is open. Leader's pit. Jamie McMurray takes two tires. Clint Bowyer gets a track bar adjustment. Kurt Busch is in and out of the pit box, leads the field back on the track.

Lap 299 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jamie McMurray makes good on his promise, taking the lead from Kurt Busch. Robby Gordon pounds the wall, flattens a tire.

Lap 297 -- Kasey Kahne is off the pace, possible touching the wall after getting loose.

Lap 294 -- Jamie McMurray tells his crew to radio the No. 2 car and tell Kurt Busch he'll be up there (in the lead) in a second.

Lap 293 -- Kevin Harvick makes an unscheduled pit stop for fuel and four tires.

Lap 292 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. drops back to 16th, passed by David Ragan.

Lap 288 -- Denny Hamlin is the last car on the lead lap, racing in the 25th position.

Lap 286 -- Jamie McMurray wants second place and trades it with Matt Kenseth through the turns.

Lap 284 -- Matt Kenseth has caught Kurt Busch but isn't able to pass for the lead. Kenseth is less than a half-second behind.

Lap 281 -- Jimmie Johnson said of his wreck: "We're just racing. We've had some bad luck and made some mistakes. I'll be back next week."

Lap 279 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. moves into 13th. Jimmie Johnson has been released from the infield care center and isn't sure if they'll get the No. 48 back on the track.

Lap 278 -- LEAD CHANGE: Kurt Busch has a strong restart and passes Matt Kenseth on the inside.

Lap 277 -- GREEN FLAG: Matt Kenseth and Kurt Busch fight for the lead under green.

Lap 275 -- Kurt Busch has found second place under yellow, followed by David Reutimann (third) and Clint Bowyer (fourth).

Lap 272 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 5: Jimmie Johnson hits both the inside and outside walls and sustains heavy damage to the No. 48. Johnson's car was too loose to save and he's sitting on the track -- race shield up and gloves off -- waiting on the wrecker.

Lap 269 -- LEAD CHANGE: Matt Kenseth was one of the first to get to pit road and takes the lead on fresh tires.

Lap 268 -- Sam Hornish is penalized for entering pit road too fast.

Lap 267 -- LEAD CHANGE: David Reutimann takes the lead. Jamie McMurray moves into second.

Lap 264 -- Kurt Busch wants to pit in a few laps. Casey Mears makes a pit stop. Jimmie Johnson is close to going a lap down. Martin Truex Jr. pits, gets major adjustments. Greg Biffle pits, gets an air pressure adjustment under the green flag. Several more drivers follow. Matt Kenseth makes no adjustments, gets four tires. Clint Bowyer gets a wedge, air pressure adjustment. Ryan Newman says the car is unstable. Tony Stewart gets four tires. Kevin Harvick reports the car is a little on the tight side, gets four tires. Kurt Busch is in, gets four tires.

Lap 263 -- Jamie McMurray moves into third, passing Clint Bowyer. Dale Earnhardt Jr. goes a lap down after making an unscheduled pit stop.

Lap 258 -- Ryan Newman is sitting in 16th, complaining that his car won't turn the way he wants it.

Lap 257 -- Paul Menard passed Kevin Harvick in sixth. Carl Edwards finds himself in 14th.

Lap 253 -- Matt Kenseth cracks the top five after starting 16th. Kevin Harvick continues to creep toward the front, currently in sixth. Jimmie Johnson -- in 24th -- is now the last car on the lead lap.

Lap 252 -- David Reutimann is maintaining the same lap times as leader Kurt Busch, but the 00 is still 2 seconds behind.

Lap 249 -- Track conditions present a temperature of 94 degrees for the drivers as speeds continue to pick up.

Lap 246 -- Twenty-five cars are on the lead lap.

Lap 244 -- Kurt Busch is our leader by about 2 seconds, followed by David Reutimann, who continues his strong run in the top five.

Lap 242 -- Jeff Gordon, who ran as high as fifth so far, is running in ninth. He reports the car is "wrecking loose."

Lap 240 -- Tony Stewart has struggled tonight as he reports his car is having to work too hard on the right-front side. Stewart says he has to hit his marks "on the money."

Lap 235 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. pits due to overheating. He gets four tires and the grill on the No. 88 cleaned. His pit crew uses a brush to remove a fair amount of debris.

Lap 234 -- Jamie McMurray offers team owner Chip Ganassi congratulations on his win at the Indy 500 earlier in the day. Over the radio, it sounded as if the two could have been exchanging pleasantries at a cocktail party. Both sound extremely calm as McMurray thanks Ganassi for a fast car this evening.

Lap 228 -- Denny Hamlin, in 26th position, is in danger of being put a lap down by Kurt Busch. Twenty-six cars remain on the lead lap.

Lap 226 -- The speed of the cars is picking up as the race progresses. Tony Stewart rounds out the top 10, followed by Jeff Burton, in 11th.

Lap 223 -- Kurt Busch is distancing the field. Crew chief Steve Addington says he and the No. 2 team will continue to make small changes as the track transitions from twilight to evening.

Lap 221 -- Jamie McMurray moves into fourth. Matt Kenseth races into eighth.

Lap 219 -- Points leader Kevin Harvick moves into seventh.

Lap 218 -- LEAD CHANGE: New leader -- The 2.

Lap 217 -- GREEN FLAG: Seven cars get the wave around as Clint Bowyer leads the field. He doesn't hold it long as Kurt Busch makes the pass.

Lap 215 -- LEAD CHANGE: Clint Bowyer edges Kurt Busch after pit stops and takes the lead.

Lap 214 -- Pits are open. Several cars make their exit. Clint Bowyer gets four tires. Kurt Busch gets a wedge adjustment. Paul Menard gets a wedge adjustment and left-side tires. Greg Biffle gets his grill cleaned and gains a spot on his exit. Jimmie Johnson will make some lengthy and much-needed repairs after an earlier incident.

Lap 213 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 4: Debris in Turn 2. Denny Hamlin gets the free pass.

Lap 211 -- Jamie McMurray moves into fifth and is fighting off Paul Menard who is trying to pass.

Lap 208 -- After serving an earlier penalty for speeding on pit road and crashing into Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch is racing in the 24th position.

Lap 205 -- David Ragan moves into 11th and Mark Martin finds the 12th spot.

Lap 200 -- The Coca-Cola has had 15 lead changes, nine race leaders and three cautions at this point. Kurt Busch continues to lead, followed by Clint Bowyer and David Reutimann. Greg Biffle has made the biggest move on the field, earning 36 spots since the start of the race.

Lap 199 -- Kurt Busch holds off Clint Bowyer to maintain the lead.

Lap 193 -- Jeff Burton has raced in the top 10 all day and is currently in eighth. His entry and exits on the track have been tight for most of the race, but he's holding his pace.

Lap 190 -- Jeff Gordon continues to improve, moving up to fifth. He has moved up five spots every 50 laps since the start of the race. Paul Menard is running the same car he raced in the Showdown and continues to climb up the ranks, running in sixth.

Lap 187 -- David Reutimann has been a top 5 car all day long, passing Greg Biffle for third. Biffle dropped back after struggling with a car about to overheat.

Lap 186 -- Jimmie Johnson is back on the track, racing in 25th place.

Lap 184 -- Paul Menard moves into sixth after starting the race in 33rd. Kevin Harvick is back into the top 10, currently running in the ninth position.

Lap 182 -- Clint Bowyer has moved into second, followed by Greg Biffle in third.

Lap 178 -- Chip Ganassi arrives at Charlotte after watching his driver Dario Franchitti win the Indy 500 earlier in the day. Ganassi became the only owner to win both the Indy 500 and Daytona 500 (Jamie McMurray) in the same year.

Lap 177 -- Jamie McMurray has led one lap during the race and is currently in seventh. Jeff Gordon moves into fifth.

Lap 174 -- Twenty-eight cars are racing on the lead lap.

Lap 172 -- GREEN FLAG: Kurt Busch leads the field to green.

Lap 171 -- A spring rubber is pulled out of the right-rear wheel well of Jimmie Johnson's car, hoping the adjustment saves their race. Denny Hamlin has damage to the nose of his splitter after sliding through the grass. Elliott Sadler gets the free pass.

Lap 170 -- Greg Biffle moves into fourth, continuing his steady charge to the front. David Reutimann claims second, followed by Clint Bowyer in third.

Lap 169 -- LEAD CHANGE: After a crazy time on pit road, Kurt Busch assumes the lead.

Lap 168 -- Big issues for Kyle Busch, including a possible bent steering wheel. Busch will be penalized for going too fast on pit road. Keselowski's team is going to work on the sheet metal.

Lap 167 -- Pit stops -- David Reutimann gets a wedge adjustment. Jimmie Johnson reports a flat right-rear tire. Kurt Busch gets two tires. Kyle Busch crashes into Brad Keselowski trying to exit pit road.

Lap 166 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 3: Denny Hamlin and Jimmie Johnson connect after Johnson gets loose and puts Hamlin into the grass. Both head to pit road with sparks coming from their cars.

Lap 165 -- David Reutimann earns third place, passing Jimmie Johnson.

Lap 163 -- Juan Montoya is back in the race, 68 laps off the lead.

Lap 162 -- Jimmie Johnson wants a piece of second place but struggles through lapped traffic and can't pass Kurt Busch.

Lap 160 -- Dave Rogers, crew chief for Kyle Busch, reports the No. 18 car continues to improve.

Lap 159 -- Jeff Burton and Joey Logano have battled most of the evening, currently fighting for ninth.

Lap 157 -- Kyle Busch has seen his lead shrink by a second, but still maintains a sizeable distance over his brother Kurt, in second.

Lap 154 -- Twenty-five cars are now racing on the lead lap. Ryan Newman has dropped to 12th.

Lap 151 -- After all was said and done on pit road, Kyle Busch leads the field, followed by his brother Kurt (second) and Jimmie Johnson (third). Greg Biffle continues his strong run from the back of the pack to the top 10 -- currently racing in seventh.

Lap 150 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jamie McMurray pits and gives up the lead to Kyle Busch. A cycle of green flag pit stops is complete.

Lap 149 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jamie McMurray takes the lead as cars shuffle on and off pit road. McMurray reports a problem with his tachometer.

Lap 148 -- LEAD CHANGE: Kurt Busch leads. Jimmie Johnson pits, gets four tires.

Lap 147 -- Martin Truex Jr. gets a huge track-bar adjustment while on pit road. Clint Bowyer reports the car is tight, gets air pressure adjustment to the left side of the car.

Lap 144 -- Jamie McMurray moves into sixth. Greg Biffle heads to pit road, calls the car loose. Brad Keselowski takes four tires. Tony Stewart pits. Ryan Newman gets four tires with little adjustment.

Lap 143 -- Pit stops are coming up as Kyle Busch continues to lead.

Lap 140 -- Tony Stewart has cracked the top 10 and currently holds the ninth position. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is hard at work in 24th, neither losing or gaining much on the field since the race began.

Lap 138 -- Kurt Busch is trying to take the lead from his brother Kyle, who maintains the lead racing on the high side of the track.

Lap 136 -- Ryan Newman has dropped to 11th after starting the race form the pole. Jimmie Johnson is passed by David Reutimann for third as track conditions continue to change.

Lap 135 -- Greg Biffle's car gets loose and kisses the wall while exiting the Turn 4.

Lap 133 -- Two hundred miles have been completed at Charlotte.

Lap 131 -- Jimmie Johnson drops to third.

Lap 130 -- LEAD CHANGE: Both Kurt and Kyle Busch pass Jimmie Johnson. Kyle Busch takes the lead.

Lap 129 -- Kyle and Kurt Busch are closing in on Jimmie Johnson for the lead.

Lap 127 -- Clint Bowyer and Jamie McMurray battle for seventh. McMurray holds Bowyer off.

Lap 125 -- Denny Hamlin passes Clint Bowyer for fifth.

Lap 123 -- Joey Logano reports the car is sliding around as the chassis gets loose.

Lap 122 -- Jeff Burton races into seventh position.

Lap 120 -- Kurt and Kyle Busch are both running slightly faster laps than leader Jimmie Johnson but haven't caught him yet.

Lap 118 -- Tony Stewart races into 11th after starting 26th. Kyle Busch has the rear of his car slide out but saves the car.

Lap 116 -- Jamie McMurray is back into the top 10, running in eighth.

Lap 115 -- Clint Bowyer cracks the top five.

Lap 110 -- Kyle Busch gets past his bother Kurt for second. Jimmie Johnson improves his lead by about a second -- reports the car is loose as crew chief Chad Knaus tells Johnson that's a good thing.

Lap 109 -- Jimmie Johnson continues to maintain a small lead over Kurt and Kyle Busch.

Lap 107 -- Kasey Kahne took four tires on the last pit stop and reports that both front tires are in disagreement.

Lap 106 -- Paul Menard passes Brad Keselowski for 16th.

Lap 104 -- Kyle Busch has found his brother Kurt on the track and is fighting for second place behind leader Jimmie Johnson.

Lap 102 -- Points leader Kevin Harvick is running in the 15th position after starting 23rd. Harvick has called Charlotte his worst race track but continues to improve.

Lap 100 -- Jeff Gordon and crew are working through their issues, and as the sun goes down, Gordon's car continues to get faster.

Lap 99 -- Brad Keselowski moves into the top 10, up 28 spots from the start of the race.

Lap 98 -- Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch are putting on a show for fans, racing side-by-side for the lead.

Lap 97 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jimmie Johnson reclaims the top spot.

Lap 96 -- LEAD CHANGE: Kurt Busch gets ahead of Jimmie Johnson.

Lap 95 -- GREEN FLAG: Jimmie Johnson leads the field to green as Kyle and Kurt Busch charge toward the front.

Lap 94 -- LEAD CHANGE: As David Gilliland pits, Jimmie Johnson slides into the lead. Sam Hornish Jr. gets the free pass.

Lap 93 -- LEAD CHANGE: David Gilliland stays out and takes the lead. Jimmie Johnson moves into second, followed by David Reutimann and Denny Hamlin.

Lap 92 -- Pit road is open. Most of the field pits. Jimmie Johnson is tight in the center, gets chassis adjustment. Kurt Busch gets four tires. Denny Hamlin gets a small adjustment.

Lap 91 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 2: Marcos Ambrose gets loose, his the wall, sustains right-rear damage and heads to pit road.

Lap 90 -- Jamie McMurray rounds out the top 10.

Lap 87 -- Greg Biffle started 40th but has moved up 23 spots into 17th -- a huge gain on the day.

Lap 85 -- Denny Hamlin is making his move on the lead, cutting the pace to less than a second behind Kurt Busch. All three Gibbs cars are running in the top six.

Lap 82 -- Jeff Burton is racing in the top 10 after starting the race in 12th.

Lap 80 -- Thirty cars are racing on the lead lap. Sam Hornish Jr. is the last driver to go a lap down.

Lap 78 -- Denny Hamlin continues to race in second, followed closely by David Reutimann.

Lap 74 -- Six drivers are in the garage. Juan Montoya presses on with repairs.

Lap 69 -- Trouble in Turn 4. Regan Smith saves his car, moving sideways.

Lap 68 -- Sad to see Juan Montoya crush the fantasy hopes of many as we start the second segment of the Fantasy Cap Challenge. Let's hope he makes it back and runs strong the rest of the race.

Lap 67 -- LEAD CHANGE: Kurt Busch passes Denny Hamlin for the lead as a six cars separate themselves from the pack up front.

Lap 66 -- GREEN FLAG: Denny Hamlin leads the field to green fro the inside. Kurt Busch gets the better jump and pulls ahead.

Lap 64 -- LEAD CHANGE: Denny Hamlin elects not pit and earns the lead.

Lap 63 -- Leaders pit. Jimmie Johnson gets a chassis adjustment and a drink of water. Kyle Busch gets two tires. Ryan Newman takes two tires.

Lap 62 -- Elliott Sadler gets the free pass. Juan Montoya is off of pit road to the garage.

Lap 61 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 1: Juan Montoya gets loose and loses control of his car. He heads to pit road for four new tires.

Lap 57 -- Kurt Busch and David Reutimann are in a league of their own right now, running one and two. Jimmie Johnson has moved into third but has more than 6 seconds to make up to find the lead.

Lap 55 -- Joey Logano passes Kasey Kahne for third.

Lap 54 -- LEAD CHANGE: Kurt Busch finds his spot back in the lead as Joey Logano heads to pit road. Finding more grip seems to be a common theme for drivers at this point in the race.

Lap 53 -- Martin Truex Jr. brings his car to pit road, calls for more grip. Tony Stewart gets four tires after a wild slide trying to get on pit road.

Lap 52 -- LEAD CHANGE: Joey Logano stays off of pit road and takes the lead. Kurt Busch gets four tires on put road.

Lap 51 -- Kevin Harvick doesn't have the speed he wants. Jimmie Johnson calls his car "snappy loose" and gets four tires.

Lap 50 -- Kasey Kahne pits, calls the track slick and adjusts tire pressure. Juan Montoya reports he can't get his tires to turn as his pit crew makes an adjustment. Brad Keselowski calls his car tight and contemplates a chassis adjustment.

Lap 46 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. moves up five spots to 19th. He started the race in 24th.

Lap 44 -- Teammates Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin work together and make their way into the top 10.

Lap 42 -- Joey Logano tries to pass Ryan Newman on the low side for second place but can't make the pass.

Lap 41 -- A lot of cars continue to run tight and are sliding up the race track. Jeff Gordon drops back to 23rd after starting 15th.

Lap 39 -- David Reutimann is relentless in his pursuit of Kurt Busch but hasn't been able to make the pass yet. We're about 10 laps away from pit stops.

Lap 36 -- Ryan Newman shrinks the lead Kurt Busch has by about 10 percent. Joey Logano has a fast car, running comfortably in fourth out of Turn 4.

Lap 33 -- Ryan Newman and David Reutimann battle for second more than 3 seconds behind Kurt Busch.

Lap 30 -- Joey Logano moves up to fourth after starting the race in the eighth position.

Lap 29 -- Kurt Busch puts four drivers a lap down.

Lap 27 -- Jimmie Johnson and team are monitoring their car temperature, attempting to see if they have something over the grill.

Lap 26 -- All drivers continue to race on the lead lap.

Lap 24 -- Kurt Busch continues to increase his lead over Ryan Newman. Busch currently has a 2.30 second advantage.

Lap 22 -- Brad Keselowski has moved up 12 spots after starting the race from the rear.

Lap 20 -- Ryan Newman led the first 11 laps and Kurt Busch has been in front since then.

Lap 18 -- Jamie McMurray has moved up 13 position since the start of the race -- currently racing in 14th.

Lap 17 -- Kurt Busch is running strong and leading the field, opening up a 1.28 second lead over Ryan Newman.

Lap 15 -- Joey Logano moves up to fifth after starting eighth.

Lap 14 -- Kurt Busch opens up about an eight-car lead over Ryan Newman, who began the race on the pole.

Lap 13 -- David Reutimann hugs the line at the bottom as he makes a charge for second.

Lap 12 -- LEAD CHANGE: Kurt Busch passes Ryan Newman for the lead.

Lap 9 -- Kevin Harvick and Jamie McMurray are making a move toward the top 10.

Lap 7 -- Juan Montoya is making progress, moving up four spots since the start of the race.

Lap 6 -- Joey Logano passes Jimmie Johnson for sixth, after starting the race in eighth. Johnson drops to eighth.

Lap 5 -- David Reutimann moves up to third after starting sixth.

Lap 3 -- Jimmie Johnson says he believes there is oil on the track.

Lap 2 -- No problems through two laps as drivers settle in. Kurt Busch maintains second.

Lap 1 -- Ryan Newman maintains his pace and leads the first lap. Kasey Kahne and Kurt Busch battle for second.

6:20 p.m. -- GREEN FLAG: Ryan Newman leads the field to green at the Coca-Cola 600 is under way.

6:15 p.m. -- Brad Keselowski (backup car) and Todd Bodine (engine) move to the back of the field.

6:14 p.m. -- The cars roll off pit road for their warm-up laps.

6:10 p.m. -- John Faulkenbury, President USO, N.C. joined by the Dickens (USMC), Foley (U.S. Army) & Barnes (U.S. Air Force) families, gives the command to start engines.

6 p.m. -- Dr. James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, delivers the Invocation.

5 p.m. -- FOX's pre-race coverage of the Coca-Cola 600 is under way.

3:15 p.m. ET -- It's a big day for racing in Charlotte, as the Cup Series teams prepare to put it all on the line in the season's longest race. Green flag is set for 6:18 p.m. ET.
