Lap 300 -- CHECKERED FLAG: Clint Bowyer holds off a hard-charging Denny Hamlin as Bowyer's fuel holds up in the Sylvania 300. Bowyer wins the opening race of the Chase. Jamie McMurray, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kevin Harvick round out the top five.

Lap 298 -- Tony Stewart runs out of fuel, as does Jeff Burton.

Lap 297 -- Tony Stewart and Clint Bowyer continue to squeeze out their fuel and make it last.

Lap 294 -- Denny Hamlin has the fastest car on the track, and is hoping for the leaders' fuel to run out.

Lap 292 -- Denny Hamlin is approximately three seconds behind race leader Tony Stewart.

Lap 291 -- A.J. Allmendinger continues to ride the rear bumper of Carl Edwards for 13th, and Edwards doesn't appreciate it.

Lap 290 -- Denny Hamlin easily slides past Jamie McMurray for third place. The question continues to be if the top two cars have enough fuel to finish the race.

Lap 288 -- Tony Stewart's lead is more than 1.2 seconds as the laps count down.

Lap 284 -- Denny Hamlin, running fourth, has been told by his crew chief Mike Ford that he has plenty of fuel and those ahead of him might not.

Lap 281 -- There are some concerns about saving fuel in the Clint Bowyer camp, as they're asking him to hold on to second and hope Tony Stewart runs out of fuel first.

Lap 280 -- Carl Edwards is eyeing that 12th-place spot held by Sam Hornish Jr. right now.

Lap 277 -- A.J. Allmendinger (14th) and Sam Hornish Jr. (12th) have both made their way back toward the front after some earlier problems.

Lap 275 -- Denny Hamlin works around Dale Earnhardt Jr. for fifth position.

Lap 273 -- There have been 22 lead changes among eight drivers.

Lap 270 -- Matt Kenseth is 24th, the last car on the lead lap.

Lap 269 -- For as well as Clint Bowyer is running, Tony Stewart's lead continues to grow. It's up to 1.6 seconds now.

Lap 267 -- Ryan Newman gets past Kyle Busch for that coveted 10th spot.

Lap 264 -- Chad Knaus tells Jimmie Johnson to just cruise around, as there's nothing the team can do if another caution doesn't come out.

Lap 262 -- Denny Hamlin gets around Kevin Harvick for sixth position.

Lap 258 -- Ryan Newman is hovering right outside the top 10.

Lap 255 -- Jimmie Johnson takes new tires, hoping to erase the possible loose wheel problem he was reporting. That's a 16.4-second stop.

Lap 254 -- Jimmie Johnson is concerned about chatter in his car, as others continue to pass. He heads onto pit road.

Lap 253 -- Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin and Jeff Gordon are battling for sixth, seventh and eighth positions.

Lap 252 -- Tony Stewart's crew chief Darian Grubb isn't telling anyone what Stewart's fuel situation is.

Lap 245 -- GREEN FLAG: Jamie McMurray leads Tony Stewart, Jeff Burton and the rest back to live racing.

Lap 242 -- Juan Montoya, Greg Biffle and Kurt Busch head to pit road, Matt Kenseth is also on pit road. David Ragan gets the free pass, putting 26 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 241 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 8: Joey Logano gets spun into the outside wall when Kurt Busch gets loose, bringing out yet another caution.

Lap 239 -- Clint Bowyer is battling Jeff Gordon for fourth, the lowest Bowyer has been all day.

Lap 237 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jamie McMurray gets around Tony Stewart for the lead. They're three-wide behind them.

Lap 236 -- GREEN FLAG: Tony Stewart leads them back to green.

Lap 234 -- Regan Smith gets the free pass.

Lap 233 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 7: Another Chaser in trouble, as Matt Kenseth gets spun out by Brad Keselowski to bring out a caution.

Lap 230 -- Teammates Clint Bowyer and Jeff Burton are side-by-side, and Burton works his way past him for second spot.

Lap 229 -- Jimmie Johnson has picked up three spots already.

Lap 228 -- GREEN FLAG: Tony Stewart will lead the field to green once again.

Lap 227 -- With that four-tire stop, Jimmie Johnson is now 24th and the last car on the lead lap. The top 10 on the restart: Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton, David Reutimann, Jamie McMurray, Sam Hornish Jr., Joey Logano, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Ryan Newman. Kevin Harvick is 12th and Denny Hamlin is up to 13th.

Lap 226 -- Tony Stewart, Jeff Burton and Clint Bowyer stay out, but Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon all came to the pits. Several pit only stops, including Carl Edwards, but some are taking two tires. Jimmie Johnson took four tires.

Lap 225 -- Now it becomes a question of strategy for Denny Hamlin, who just pitted a few laps ago. If he thinks he can make it to the end, he will stay out.

Lap 224 -- With the dropping out of some Chasers from the top 10, Ryan Newman, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Juan Montoya are running fifth through seventh. Brad Keselowski is ninth.

Lap 223 -- Replays show that Jeff Burton came down a little into Kurt Busch, spinning him, and then Jimmie Johnson got into the left rear of Kyle Busch, spinning those two as well.

Lap 221 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 6: Both Kurt Busch and Jimmie Johnson go around, and Kyle Busch also takes on some damage. The Chase drivers are starting to thin out from the top 10.

Lap 220 -- Jeff Gordon is up to second, past Clint Bowyer, and Jeff Burton is taking a look from fourth place.

Lap 219 -- Jamie McMurray is down to 20th after serving his penalty for speeding on pit road.

Lap 218 -- GREEN FLAG: The top 10 on the restart: Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton, Jeff Gordon, Kurt Busch, Ryan Newman, Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Lap 216 -- Both Clint Bowyer and Jimmie Johnson appear to have taken some damage.

Lap 215 -- With that spin, Denny Hamlin falls from fourth to 22nd, last car on the lead lap. However, he avoided damage by not hitting anyone else.

Lap 214 -- Joey Logano gets the free pass.

Lap 213 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 5: Denny Hamlin gets spun by Carl Edwards going into Turn 4, bringing out the caution.

Lap 212 -- LEAD CHANGE: After some beating and banging, Tony Stewart is back to the lead.

Lap 211 -- GREEN FLAG: The top 10 is Clint Bowyer, Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Jeff Gordon, Jeff Burton, Kurt Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Ryan Newman and Kyle Busch. Kevin Harvick is up to 13th.

Lap 208 -- The leaders are on pit road. Clint Bowyer takes four tires but makes no changes. Jamie McMurray takes four tires and air pressure adjustment, but was flagged for being too fast entering. Denny Hamlin got a track bar adjustment and four tires, and Carl Edwards took some adjustments and four tires.

Lap 206 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 4: Mark Martin is on pit road with a flat left front tire, giving the free pass to Sam Hornish Jr.

Lap 205 -- Clint Bowyer is closing in on Matt Kenseth, threatening to put the Roush Fenway Racing driver a lap down.

Lap 203 -- Ryan Newman is making noise in 11th, getting closer to Kurt Busch in 10th.

Lap 201 -- Never mind. Denny Hamlin gets past Jeff Burton to take over the fifth position.

Lap 166 -- Carl Edwards continues to hold serve in third place, followed by fellow Chasers Jeff Burton, Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon.

Lap 163 -- Greg Biffle is trying to hold off Martin Truex Jr. for 18th.

Lap 162 -- Ryan Newman has made his way up to 11th, getting around Brad Keselowski. Kasey Kahne is up to 14th after being in danger of being lapped earlire.

Lap 161 -- Kevin Harvick said his car is too loose after his last stop.

Lap 160 -- Jeff Burton is up to fourth, behind Carl Edwards.

Lap 159 -- Kevin Harvick continues to be displeased by the performance of his pit crew, as he fell from 13th to 18th on that stop.

Lap 157 -- Nine of the top 10 spots are held by Chase drivers, with Jamie McMurray running second as the lone non-Chaser up front.

Lap 156 -- Brad Keselowski is down to 11th after getting passed by Jeff Gordon.

Lap 155 -- Kevin Harvick, Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth are the rear of the Chase field, running 17th-19th.

Lap 153 -- Kyle Busch has made his way back into the top 10, getting past Jeff Gordon.

Lap 152 -- Jimmie Johnson gets loose, and both the Busches back up to avoid the trouble. A pack of Chasers avoid trouble, but it is crazy back there.

Lap 151 -- Clint Bowyer gets another great restart, and opens up a gap over Jamie McMurray.

Lap 150 -- GREEN FLAG: Clint Bowyer leads them back to green, and we're halfway through the Sylvania 300.

Lap 149 -- The top 10 after the leaders pitted: Clint Bowyer, Jamie McMurray, Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards, Tony Stewart, Jeff Burton, Denny Hamlin, Brad Keselowski, Jeff Gordon and Kurt Busch. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is right outside that, in 11th.

Lap 148 -- The pit road is open, and here come the leaders. Jeff Burton takes four tires, no adjustments. Clint Bowyer goes back to his original set up and takes tires. Jimmie Johnson gets another adjustment and four tires, and Carl Edwards is looking for grip along with his four tires.

Lap 147 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 3: Debris brings out the caution.

Lap 145 -- Clint Bowyer's lead is more than seven seconds now.

Lap 142 -- The race has been green for 100 consecutive laps now.

Lap 141 -- Kevin Harvick has made his way up to 13th.

Lap 140 -- Greg Biffle just gave up 16th place to Ryan Newman.

Lap 138 -- Clint Bowyer's lead is growing, back up to 4.4 seconds, as Carl Edwards is caught up in lapped traffic. Joey Logano isn't doing anyone any favors, racing A.J. Allmendinger very hard for position right in front of Edwards.

Lap 135 -- Jeff Burton is fifth, ahead of Tony Stewart, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. is right behind his teammate, Jeff Gordon, for 10th.

Lap 134 -- Denny Hamlin has now passed Brad Keselowski as well, making Hamlin eighth.

Lap 133 -- Jamie McMurray (third) is the lone non-Chase driver in the first seven positions.

Lap 132 -- Kurt Busch gets around his teammate Brad Keselowski, putting him up to seventh.

Lap 129 -- Denny Hamlin is up to ninth, with Jeff Gordon right behind him in 10th.

Lap 127 -- Joey Logano goes one lap down, leaving just 20 cars on the lead lap. Matt Kenseth is running 18th, the furthest Chase driver back in the field.

Lap 126 -- Carl Edwards is slowly closing the gap on Clint Bowyer, now trailing by just about three seconds.

Lap 124 -- Kevin Harvick completes the pass on Juan Montoya, taking over 14th.

Lap 123 -- Joey Logano (21st) is trying to hold on to his spot on the lead lap as Clint Bowyer closes in.

Lap 122 -- Juan Montoya holds off Kevin Harvick on that lap, as they were both inside of the lapped car of Travis Kvapil.

Lap 121 -- Kevin Harvick is on the inside of Juan Montoya, aiming for 14th.

Lap 120 -- Clint Bowyer is leading Carl Edwards by 4.44 seconds.

Lap 118 -- Kyle Busch had a look to the inside of David Reutimann, but he's complaining of chatter in his tires and couldn't complete the pass.

Lap 116 -- Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. have gotten around David Reutimann. Gordon is now 10th, Earnhardt 11th.

Lap 114 -- A.J. Allmendinger ran out of fuel on the last pit stop, and went a lap down with the ensuing slow-down. He's now 25th.

Lap 113 -- Jeff Burton picks up another spot for sixth. Jeff Gordon gets around Dale Earnhardt Jr. for 11th.

Lap 112 -- Word comes from ESPN that Dale Earnhardt Jr. got blocked in on pit road by Regan Smith.

Lap 110 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. lost some spots on pit road, but is back up to 11th and right behind his friend Denny Hamlin for a spot in the top 10.

Lap 70 -- Jeff Gordon is up to 14th.

Lap 64 -- Clint Bowyer's lead is more than three and a half seconds.

Lap 62 -- Carl Edwards moves past Jamie McMurray for second.

Lap 61 -- Jimmie Johnson gets around David Reutimann for sixth place.

Lap 59 -- Carl Edwards is running third, and has Brad Keselowski right behind him.

Lap 58 -- Juan Montoya has fallen to 13th.

Lap 56 -- Landon Cassill is out of the race, brakes.

Lap 54 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. is knocking on the door of the top 10, right behind Juan Montoya.

Lap 39 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 2: Marcos Ambrose and Paul Menard spin out in Turn 2, but it doesn't look like there's much damage.

Lap 38 -- Kurt Busch and Jeff Gordon are battling for 15th.

Lap 37 -- There are five Chasers in the top 10: Carl Edwards (fifth), Jimmie Johnson (seventh), Kyle Busch (eighth), Greg Biffle (ninth) and Tony Stewart (10th).

Lap 36 -- Tony Stewart restarted 18th after taking four tires, but is up to 11th now.

Lap 35 -- Kyle Busch apparently makes contact with the wall coming out of Turn 4.

Lap 34 -- Jamie McMurray wants the lead back, and he's all over the back of Clint Bowyer.

Lap 26 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 1: Scott Speed is into the inside wall, bringing out the caution.

Lap 24 -- Clint Bowyer gets around Juan Montoya into second.

Lap 23 -- Tony Stewart's lead on Juan Montoya is nearly 1.6 seconds. But Montoya's mirrors are full with Clint Bowyer.

Lap 22 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. has picked up 10 spots, up to 22nd.

Lap 20 -- Matt Kenseth (30th) has picked up three spots, but he's still 10 spots behind the next Chase driver, Harvick in 20th.

Lap 17 -- Clint Bowyer has gotten around Brad Keselowski for third, and is heading for Juan Montoya in second.
