While in town for the race at Dover International Speedway, fans can take time out to experience U.S. and military history by day and the bright lights of the casinos by night!
Getting there
From Baltimore, Washington and Richmond: Take US 50/301 through Annapolis, across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Proceed north on US 301 to Maryland 302. Turn right on 302 and follow signs to Dover. Or take 1-95 North to Route 1 South, and get off in Dover, Exit 104. Watch for signs to the speedway.
From New Jersey and North: Take New Jersey Turnpike south across the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Follow Route 13 South. Continue on Route 13/1 to the speedway.
From Philadelphia and Wilmington: Take 1-95 South from Philadelphia, through Wilmington, to Route 1 South. Follow Route 1 to Dover, Exit 104.
From Norfolk Area: Cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel and follow US 13 North approximately 170 miles to the speedway.
Route 1 E-Zpass Express Lanes are high-speed express lanes located on the left side of the toll plazas. Look for the express lanes to keep traffic moving through the toll plazas
What to bring
Dover allows each fan to bring the following into the grandstands:
One hard-sided or soft-sided insulated cooler or bag (may contain ice), not larger than 14 inches in width. Examples: cooler, scanner bag, fanny pack, purse, binocular bag or camera bag
One additional clear plastic bag, not larger than 18 x 18 x 4 inches -- may not contain ice
One seat cushion
Headsets, scanners, cameras, binoculars, (not in a bag), worn separately around your neck or belt, are also permitted.
No person shall be permitted to enter the grandstands with more than two bags. (One cooler or bag and one clear plastic bag of the types described above.)
Express entry lanes, for fans with no coolers or bags, will be at each gate to expedite entrance to the grandstands.
Parking and camping
Speedway Parking: Parking is free on speedway property Friday and Saturday. General parking on Sunday is $5 per vehicle. Parking lots on the east side (outdoor grandstand) of the speedway are available for parking Sunday for $10.
There is plenty of non-speedway parking and camping available at various shopping centers, stores and fields located on DuPont Highway (Route 13) and Leipsic Road.
