WILLIAMSON, W. Va. -- John Blankenship will drive a Nationwide Series entry for Tommy Baldwin Racing, the team announced Tuesday.

Blankenship, the 2009 Late Model Dirt Series Rookie of the Year, will make his debut Aug. 4 at Iowa Speedway and will run the final three races of the season. Coal America's Energy will sponsor the car.

During the past month, Blankenship has had a win and three second-place finishes in the Late Model Dirt Series. He is sixth in the points standings and he will finish out the 2012 schedule.

Blankenship also finished in the top 10 in the ARCA race at Michigan.

"The opportunity to race in the NASCAR Nationwide Series is a dream come true for me, and to be able to drive for an owner who has been in the sport as long as Tommy is just a plus," Blankenship said.

Brad Parrot will serve as Blankenship's crew chief.

"I want to give John the best opportunity possible to succeed in the Nationwide Series," Baldwin said. "A technical alliance with Richard Childress will allow us to use Richard Childress Racing chassis, along with Earnhardt-Childress Racing engines. These resources will allow a talented driver such as John to be able to come into the series and be competitive immediately."

Blankenship joins Ryan Blaney, Bobby Santos and Ryan Truex, all of whom have driven for TBR in Nationwide this season.
