Jimmie Johnson honored on floor of Congress
N.C. representative lauds Johnson's charity work

The plaudits keep rolling in for six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson. The latest commendation, however, wasn't solely for his dominance on the track.

Robert Pittenger (Rep., NC-09) took to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday to honor his "fastest constituent," noting Johnson's considerable contributions to education.

"Jimmie is a champion off the track," Pittenger said. "Since 2006, the Jimmie Johnson Foundation has contributed more than $5 million to charity, with a special focus on improving K-12 education in North Carolina, Oklahoma and California."
