There are 22 days left before the Feb. 24 Daytona 500; hence, today’s number is 22.
The number of consecutive seasons Roger Penske has recorded at least one victory per year as a car owner, the second longest active streak behind Rick Hendrick’s 27. Starting in 1991, Penske sustained the streak for nine years as a single-car operation with Rusty Wallace behind the wheel. The 1998 season was the most challenging; Wallace, who posted one victory each year in 1997, 1998 and 1999, didn’t register his first 1998 win until Oct. 25 at Phoenix, the 31st of 33 races that year. In 2012, Brad Keselowski won five races under the Penske banner in claiming the first Cup title for the Captain.
