A native of Vernon, CT, Gary Putnam joined Petty Enterprises in 2002 after spending two years with MB2 Motorsports and driver Johnny Benson. He is no rookie when it comes to the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. The 2003 season marks his 8th year on the circuit.
Prior to moving south and joining the Cup ranks he was a familiar face on the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series.
