Peter Sospenzo, who had been on the Cup series sidelines since Penske Racing reorganized its operation at the end of 2001, will crew chief the No. 44 Chevrolets driven by Terry Labonte in 2005.

Sospenzo, 46, came to Hendrick Motorsports at the end of the 2002 season to work with Joe Nemechek, and the pair finished second at Atlanta.

Sospenzo is a New York native.
