The number of career poles for both Bobby Isaac and Ryan Newman. The peak of Isaac’s career came in 1969, when he won 19 poles and converted 11 of those top starting spots into victories.
Isaac won a career-best 17 races that season and laid the foundation for his championship run the following year. Qualifying was an excellent predictor of finishes for Isaac, who recorded 21 of his 37 career victories from the pole position. The same can’t be said for Newman, whose 49 poles rank him fourth among active NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers. The 2008 Daytona 500 winner has converted four poles into victories, twice at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (2002 and 2011).
